Hi Guys. I've been posting for a couple of weeks now and have been shopping around for some various handguns. Prices here in IL vary quite a bit from dealer to dealer. Here are some prices I received from a local dealer near my office. Small shop, however very nice man. Also it seems that Gander Mountain seems to be pretty well stocked and priced competatively. Do larger dealers get better pricing?

Here are the costs - OTD. Comments, etc apppreciated.

Glock 21 . 45acp fixed sites - $618.00
Taurus 24/7 9mm black w hi-cap mag's $397.75
Taurus 627SS4 .357 4" - $430.30
Taurus 66SS4 .357 4" - $398.83
Taurus 608SS4 .357 4" - $442.23
S&W 686 (6shot) .357 4" - $588.71
SA .45ACP loaded model, model #: PX9151L - $857.79
SA .45 ACPloaded model, model #: PX9109L - $765.39
* What are the Kimber equivalants with costs?

What do you think?
Thanks - Telli97

That sounds a little high. If you can't find any decent prices there locally I would look around online. I have gotten some amazin deals from fellow gun owners all over the US.

The only one close that I have priced recently is the Taurus 24/7. Saw a .45 in the case 2 weeks ago for $339. I don't know what the licensing differences are between Indiana and Illinois though.

Also consider that while some distributors are now running their own trucks some small shops don't have the volume to justify being on the route. That means they're overnighting these in which is another $40-50 tax ontop of the wholesale price.

Lastly, I have a couple of dealers I like well enough over the others that I've no problem tossing an extra $20-30 into the pot simply for the sake of doing business with good people.

Okay...

If I was to order these gun from Davidson's, here is what I would pay:

Glock 21: On Sale right now for $535

Taurus :
24/7: $430
627SS4: $389
66SS4: $330-$370 depending on adjustable vs Fixed
608SS4: $399

S&W 686: $531

PX9151L: $688
PX9109L: $666

So...the Glock looks a little too high, and so does the S.A. I know the price I listed on the others looks lower, but you posted OTD, which I assume means Out The Door. Mine still need some shipping and taxes figured in.

On the face of things, the prices you put up look to be competative. Could you find cheaper? I'm sure...but one of the things you need to ask yourself is how much is you time worth? Is it worth the time to you to spend days(not to mention the headache) searching to save $10-15 dollars?

Good condition 4" S&W 686s ought to be available used for $325 - $375.

Regardless of price, I consider a good condition pre-MIM, pre-lock, six shot 686 with the firing pin on the hammer to be a better gun than what's coming out of Springfield today.

Big dealers may have lower costs and still not offer lower pricing. Some smaller shops may offer better deals just to increase sales volume. I can only speak to the S&W 686. I see new 2-1/2 in Bbl seven shooters around $525 against one distributor's price-to-dealer of $451. I also tracked used 686 4-inch six shooters: 21 selling prices on GA and some local shops for 552 days. Prices ranged from $310 to $499 with the average price being $441. The price trend seems to be rising for this model.

While a smaller dealer around here (Chicago suburbs) may have the occ. deal, the reliably 2 lowest prices are found at MegaSport in Plainfield (US 30 off of I55) and GAT Guns in Dundee (25 North off of I90) ... both very reasonable drives, both have web sites but NIB stock is rarely listed ...you can do better out-of-state on the web but after shipping and FFL transfer, it tends to be pretty close (don't forget the state taxes in your comparison)

...and there is something to be said for supporting our local vendors

You have to understand that to a lot of us the shopping is half the fun. We actually enjoy going to the stores to see what they have to offer and haggling for a good price.

i agree, researching and shopping for a new firearm or anythign for that matter is half the fun. nothing says satisfaction like talking about ur new purchase and being able to say what a deal you were able to hunt down.

Sig Prices

A local dealer is telling customers that Sig will have a large price increase shortly. In the $100.00 range. Anyone else hear this or can confirm it? :cuss:
