We are on vacation in Sevierville, Tn. For those of you that don't know, it's literally next door to Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg. I found a gunshop up here J. Floyd's that has amazing(compared to Baton Rouge, La.) prices. Tell me what you think I should get while here and ship to my FFL.

1) SA 1911 Champion(brown handle with US on side) - $399
2) Walther P99 40 - $599
3) Bersa Thunder 380 - $259
4) S&W 642 38 with laser grip - $549
5) S&W 542 38 without laser - $369
6) Taurus 24/7 9mm - $349
7) Taurus 24/7 .40 - $369
8) Taurus 24/7 Pro (out of stock, sold last one at ... ) - $250!!!
9) TaurusPT100 .40 Stainless w/ 2 Hi-Cap Mags - $359
10) SA XD-9 Subbie with XML light and holster - $499
I paid that for my XD40-subbie without any accessories locally

Which one should I get? I have to get my FFL to overnight his signed FFL to them so that I can get it shipped home, he won't take a faxed copy. I will pay for the overnight just to get my hands on these prices.

That Bersa Thunder is over-priced IMO - Gunbroker has those for $219 tho shipping to factor in of course. My local guy had one at $219 also when I took a friend to go buy one. Other prices - can't compare so easily.

Only you know the prices at home so - go with that to pick best buy (or two - or three:D )

Well the Bersa is cheaper than local shops, except for Academy. The rest .. it's cheap. The S&W 642 without the lasergrip is around $599 at home!! The Taurus prices I know are a good $75 to $100 less than at home too.

When doing your price calcs, don't forget that our sales tax is 9.5% as well. Funny you should mention J. Floyd's--I was just there about an hour ago.

Recently, I overheard them tell a customer something about being able to sell to residents of bordering states without a problem (the guy that was trying to buy was from OH though, and didn't want to pay shipping or a fee to an OH FFL). I didn't note where you're from, but if from KY, NC, VA, GA, AR, MS, AL, or MO...it may be worth asking them about.

I'm from Louisiana. When I asked to see the Bersa he had he almost took it back from my hands when I told him where I was from. First thing he told me was "Can't sell it to out of state people." Then I asked him about shipping to an FFL and he said that was fine. I talked to a guy named Ronnie something, older guy, real nice. Too bad I missed ya there bro. Where ya live at?

Um, selling handguns in person to a resident of an adjoining state is a big
Federal law violation
Actually no it isn't.

Selling to an out of state resident (non-FFL) is lawful. DELIVERING to an out of state resident (non-FFL) is where the wicket gets sticky.

By arranging delivery to a valid FFL holder who then is responsible for lawful delivery to the purchaser everything is on the up and up and no one has to wear double lock jewelry.

Sorry, I don't really know anyone in the real estate business, but by all means look at houses in the New Center area(east of Sevierville). This is the fastest growing area and has less traffic. Good luck!

Not far- I pass by Floyd's three times a week on my way to the range, but I only manage to pass by on the way home once a week. The other times, my car turns itself in their drive. ;)

Sorry you couldn't do biz with 'em- nice folks and good prices make a potent combo. I really hope you had a nice visit to our area otherwise.

WRT the statements about selling to residents of adjacent states: this was just something I overheard them say, and I wasn't focused on their conversation so may have misunderstood something (not likely, due to the context, but possible). I thought it odd, but didn't question it as I had no dog in that hunt. My only thought is that perhaps they could do the TBI checks on adjacent-state residents somehow, and could then hand the gun over FTF.

Yeh I understand that, somehow my car always pulls into a parking lot that has "gun" anywhere on the sign  I could have done business with them, but the wife wouldn't let me. Something about "you don't need another gun before we move here". Oh well, he will get my business sooner or later.

Aha! The Ohio fella was indeed trying to buy a rifle, so that 'splains that. Thanks for letting me know, as I was wondering whether I'd been inhaling too much lead dust or something...
