My "vehicle" handgun

+1 on the S&W Sigma for this use. Cheap, very reliable, best customer support in the industry and its trigger means you won't be shooting anyone unless you really mean it, and won't cry too hard if its gets stolen with your car.

I use a Kel-Tec P-11 with a P-40 conversion kit. Tough reliable small gun with a lot of punch for it's size. It meets the price vs danger of theft criteria also.
 
Not the best pics, hard to get a shot in a car with no dome light at night, but here's my old setup. I'm holding onto the car (for parts) in case I get another B body. The pistol is a Glock 19 w/ an M3, bought when I had money. THe holster is a blade-tech, also bought when I had money. I made the mount for free at work.
