Hi All,

I have been looking at various gun storage techniques for the 8 handguns I currently own. Foam hardcases were no good for long term storage, and the soft zipper cases are no quite the answer either. I looked at many gun safes but I don't have an ideal place in my house to keep one,(read, wife is no gun lover), and they are heavy and expensive to boot. While surfing the net to look for something I, and my guns, can live with, I found the "Stack-on" storage cases. These are metal cases of all sizes that lock, and offer a perfect place to keep a handgun. They have a smaller size that bolts to the wall and/or floor and can hold about 6 handguns. Better yet, it is sold under the name Sentinel at Walmart for $50, which is $40 less then the online price of "Stack-on". It has 3 shelves, the bottom is foam lined, the other two shelves are plastic, Dimensions: 21"W x 10"D x 18"H
FEATURES:
"Perfect for holding pistols, ammo, supplies and valuables.
Locking mechanism passes through steel door and is secured behind the steel door frame for added security.
2 removable shelves and foam padded bottom provide ample storage. Pre-drilled mounting holes allow for easy attachment to floor, ceiling, wall or other Stack-On gun cabinets. Fastening hardware is included."
I am not trying to do a commercial for them, but this was so perfect for me and exactly what I needed in my situation I wanted to pass it on. I bought two of them last night and my guns are stored safely, and properly. I hope someone in my situation will be helped by this post.

Gun safes can be used for other things other than firearms, your wife have nice jewery or important papers? Go for that angle.

Thats a good thought Charby, but the only good place for a full size safe would be the basement, and I don't want to keep my guns down there due to humidity considerations. Also, my wife is not such an easy mark :D

you can get dehumidfiers, decicant, etc to keep the moisture out that go in the safe, do don't worry about your basement unless you got dripping walls or somehting. Plus if you have central air the basement stays pretty dry.

I used two of the Stack-On double door cabinets until I bought my Heritage safe. Then I gave one to my son, and I use the other to store reloading supplies. I converted the right side to shelf storage, worked out great. For the price and function they are nice cabinets.

Heh...I'm about to go the other direction. My 14 gun safe has about 30 stuffed in it...Don't wanna buy a larger safe, so I'm selling a few and will prolly buy a smaller safe for the pistols as well.
