Any of you guys know a place to get a revolver hard chromed. Not just a metal finishing place but a real firearm refinisher that will take it apart and put it back together and does excellent work. Price isn't all that important as long as their work is top notch. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Contact info or links even more so. I got a 500mag whose previous owner allowed to spot with rust. So I'm either gonna hard chrome it or bead blast it. I perfer brushed hard chrome though.

Tripp does outstanding work. Last I checked, they were no longer HC'ing revolvers.
I would e-mail Shari Tripp and ask.
Oh, a HC revolver is quite nice.

Definitely check of Ron Mahovsky's Metalife. They do really nice work, and they know whole disassembly/reassembly drill.

Doesnt Hard chrome effect the inscriptions on the gun? Some one ruined my 1911 a few months back.

Don't know about hard chrome, but I had Robar down in Phoenix do complete (inside and out) NP3 jobs on a finish worn 4" S&W 15-3 and a pretty clean SP101. Both came back beautiful, and the triggers, especially on the Ruger, smoothed out really nicely. Very easy to take care of, and guaranteed to never flake off. Not cheap, but worth every penny in my opinion. And they run internet specials pretty regularly. And super nice people to do business with, to boot.

Don't know if they're still in the FA refinishing business or not, but my old custom S&W 1917 snubbie is finished in "Armaloy". The company is/was in Daggett, TX. It has held up superbly now for over thirty years. It's proven to be very corrosion resistant but its real forte is its hardness. At about 70 Rockwell C a new file will hardly touch it, making the moving parts so treated almost impervious to wear. It reduces the coefficient of friction a good deal, too, slicking things up nicely.

An added bonus to the process, at least for a carbon steel carry weapon was that the process could be applied to the bore and inside the chambers without significant dimensional change.

If they aren't around anymore, I'd go with the Robar NP3. Great stuff. My only real area of concern on something like a .500 S&W Mag. would be how it might hold up on the compensator under the tremendous drubbing from super-hot, super high-pressure gasses over time. Robar could tell you for sure.

I used to have a Metalifed model 29-2, but in a moment of insanity I traded it away. That was a sweet revolver! The finish work, inside and out, was excellent.

I had Armoloy do my Python 30 years ago and still like new. They are still in business
