I was at Dick's sporting goods and they have a New England Firearms home defense model 12 gauge. It looks just like the Rem. 870 HD, but it only cost $149.00 new. The differences I could see were that it seemed a little heavier and it held 1 extra round in the tube (it said 6 total) Is it OK as a strictly HD gun or should I spend the extra hundred on a Remington. I like Remington BTW but I also like to save money.
Thanks for the help

Buy the Remington, no finer weapon is made. Your great grandchildren will thank you for it.

This is another Chinese clone gun, made by slave labor in the largest dictatorship left on Earth.

And it is a very good gun as well. Ive shot a bunch of the Hawk/Interstate?Norinco 870 clones, and they are very serviceable guns.

You can get the same gun, not marked H&R at CDNN for 119.00.

Yup, and considering you can find a good used 870 for as little as $150 (even in Northern Va...), the 870 is always the better choice. At worst, there's barely a $100 difference between the two when buying new.

I will not argue that the 870 is a better choice. However, I believe that the question was "is the Norinco/ H&R a good choice??", to which the answer is a resounding yes.

Update

The 870 synthetic with the 18" barrel and extended mag followed me home yesterday. Brand new 290 OTD from a local dealer. Thanks again for all the info to help me decide on my new HD shot gun. I can now put the 870 WingMaster back in the safe until opening day.
