I have been thinking of trying it out in my .30 Carbine Blackhawk just for kicks but haven't gotten around to them yet. I got a BIG list of other stuff in line ahead of them.
They should work well. I checked my records. Loaded some 110 gr Hornady SP for 300 WSM, 62 gr Varget and 60 gr H4895. Good accuracy, just didn't have a need for that load. I think I was loading it for blacktail deer. I liked it better with the .308. I imagine the Vmax would be great for varmints.
Well I did some target shooting, found 62.4 grains of R-15 to be the most accurate so far. Was grouping .7 @ 100 yards, good start I think but will improve after some tinkering
I loaded some 110 v-max's in my old 300 win mag and got them a bit too hot.
Some made it to the paper and some vaporized about 20yds out.
Groups were sub MOA at 100 for the one that made it downrange.
Always wanted to see a P-dog hit with one of those at 4000fps
I've got some 110 grain HP I'm going to load for my 300 Win Mag this spring. Wanting to get that smart old groundhog that kept on fooling me last year. I figured a HP going 3400 fps will fix'em.
