Has anyone milled out their Ciener Beretta mags to take more than 10rds?

I took one of my 10rd mags apart for my Beretta 92 Ciener conversion kit and it looks like if you milled it down an inch or so, you should be able to load a few more rounds in the mag. Has anyone tried it? Did it work? I don't want to ruin a perfect mag but it would be sweet if I could just mill them down a bit and get me some 15rd mags. Does anyone have the 10rd and 15rd mag to compare springs and mag construction?

It is legal right?

Anything fun or cool is not legal in California especially making mags hold more rounds than they were manufactured to hold. Hopefully your state is a different story, check the laws before milling. Please do let us know if this works, sounds fun and cool!! Dohhh........ that means it's illegal here in PRK :banghead:

Most neutered magazines were built so that they couldn't be easily modified to hold more than 10 rounds.

My FN Forty-Nine has two ridges that I could possibly grind off and get more in, but doing so could weaken the mag body and possibly cause failure. Not worth trying unless I could get some factory 14 rounders to replace a possibly ruined 10rd mag with.

As long as your state doesn't have its own capacity restriction or gun modification, you can modify the magazine as the assault weapons ban is now dead.

The current Ciener mags are 14-15 round capacity....here are some photos of one from a BHP unit. Looks like they have begun machining these out since the AWB expired. Hope this helps...

Rembrandt, those pics do help a great deal! Thank you for taking the time to show them to me.

It looks like the BHP and the Beretta mags are very similar. My 10rd Beretta mags have a slot that only goes half way down the back but yours are cut all the way down. This is the area I was wondering about. I wanted to know how far down the hi-cap mags were milled. It looks like I can go all the way through if I want to without causing any problems. This solves the question of how far to go. This is very good news as it looks like two swipes with the appropriate sized dies and I will be done. The mag body is plenty strong enough to withstand having only three sides since it is machined out of a solid block of aluminum. Thanks Ciener for making a product that isn't the cheapest possible thing you could come up with. :)

I'll let everyone know how this project progresses. A guy at work has a milling machine at his house and when I can get with him, I should be able to do this in a single evening.
