another serious training facility?

How many rounds did you shoot over what period of time?

How did the weapon function?

Jack, just passing info along that you probably already know, but, Colonel Cooper, who created the Gunsite, was a BIG fan of the CZ 75, and stated sreveral times over the years that all it needed to be "one of the best" was the .45 cal.. If only CZ had done the 97 sooner......

i can tell you that from getoffthex forums and from what the people from tatical response have to say is that the cz's don't hold up. they might do aright in gunsite but they aren't ran hard like they are at tactical response.

Too bad CZ didn't really do the 97 well. I had one and didn't like it. It was no where near as nice as my standard 75b and my old P-01. The 97 was too big and too unreliable (mine had a cronic magazine release issue and wouldn't feed HPs)

The '97 wasn't it.

In '97 we visited the Czech Republic and cruised down to the Moravian town of Uhersky Brod, where the Cesko Zbrojovka facility (previously "BRNO") is now located. On that occasion we discussed the prospects for a new service pistol and a new heavy rifle, both to capitalize on the excellent reputation of BRNO firearms.

They have now brought out their new service pistol, and apart from the fact that it is in caliber 45ACP, it shows no evidence of my input whatever. Well, it is a 45, but it does not seem likely to replace the 1911. Among other things, it is both bigger and heavier than the 1911, one of the few faults of which is that it is too big and heavy. I wish these people well. They showed us a nice trip, but the heir of the 1911 is yet to be.

I don't know the particulars but evidently, somewhere between the CZ-75 and .45ACP, something went in a direction not to Mr. Cooper's liking. He was evidently offering input at some point.

I took a handgun class that was supposed to run about 8hrs,went closer to 11.We shot 600 rounds and my pcr was flawless.I trust it more than any handgun I have, including my 1911's.

Ya, only in the USA are CZs considered sub-standard guns.
The P-01 went through testing the was very demanding.
I guess that because they were in the CZech REpublic and not the
U.S., that the guns didn't break.

There are more than a few 100,000 round Cz75s still perking right along out there. No parts breaking or having to be replaced.

The CZ75 and resulting offspring are fine combat handguns. The 97B
might be another story, as it was never intended for military or police
service.

I took my CZ 75 SP-01 Custom Shop to Gunsite, shot the 250 course plus the GAS Match (1,200-1,400 rounds) afterword. It ran fine except for my 13lb spring (now upgraded to 15lb spring, stock spring is 16lbs). I only cleaned the gun once, and didn't clean the magazines.

I scored the highest on all the school drills (47 out of 50), El Presidente (51 par time plus perfect shooting is 60), and won the shoot off.

But it was the shooter not the gun.

I too would like to hear more from possum.

What I'd like to see is someone take a CZ CZ-75 variant to the 1000 round shootout in Texas next spring.

I might have to go there and prove that wrong. A well built CZ will run 2,000+ rounds without a hiccup. Mine has about 5,000 rounds through it since I got it in September including a Gunsite course. On track to put 20,000 rounds through it by next September.

possum, I'd love to try Gunsite or any other shooting school with my CZ P01, but I don't have the time or money. I think it would do just fine.

I used my 1985 manufactured "Pre-B" CZ-75 at LFI 1 and LFI 2.

I didn't clean it the whole time at LFI 1 and it ran fine all week. No FTF's, no FTE's, nothing. The same goes for LFI 2, although I did clean it once in the middle of the week.

It's my most reliable autopistol so far.

My 75b fired just over 15000 rounds in its life, all without any malfunction whatsoever. Sold it a year ago and according to the owner it just keeps on going still.

in it's life how long was that? there is a big difference between 1500rds in a few months and 2000-3000rds in 4 days. for normal gun owners and shooters i admit they would and are fine, but i don't think that they can be ran as hard as some of the other gun makers stuff out there.

So do you have data to back this up, or are just repeating what you've heard someone else say? Have you ever even fired a CZ? Big difference between first hand experience and "I don't think". What you're hearing in response is the actual experience of CZ owners.

And which Tactical Response classes are you talking about that fire 2000-3000 rounds of pistol ammo? None of the courses listed on their web site (1, 2 or 5 day) list more than 1000 rounds of pistol ammo as a requirement. I find it hard to believe that they are shooting 2-3 times the advertised number of rounds. There just aren't enough hours in the day.

I have to throw the yellow flag on this one...

possum,

Just in case you misread that, it was fifteen thousand rounds, not 1500. Two to three thousand rounds in four days is an awful lot of shooting though!

Is anyone going to take a CZ to the 1000 round shootout in Texas next April?

I hope so I would love to see the results. I am planning on shooting and have honestly though about using a BHP just to see how it would do.

I disagree the CZ is loose enough to handle at least 2,000 rounds between cleanings. The only weakness in the design IMO is the extractor, the rest of the pistol is very tolerate of dirt.

I know of at least one CZ that has survived practical shooting training (around 1,000 rounds a day, over 2-3 days).

That shootout is 50% chance IMO. If you have an ammo problem, that's one error. Shooter problem, another error. So even if the pistol is operating at 100% you can get knocked out.
