Has Remington Returned Your R-51 OR a New One?

2 people I talked to said they were refunding the total purchase price even if it was over MSRP
Wow, that's...actually pretty impressive for Remington. You know, considering the lack of anything they seem to have put into the process as far as we consumers can tell. If they're refunding more than MSRP, for no real reason if you think about it, that's a surprising commitment to making their customers whole.

Now mind you, that is what 2 of their "customer service reps" said. I put that in quotes because well you know. But they are known to say things just to get you off the phone and not yell at them anymore, so I will believe it when I get the check in the mail. That will probably be next year at this rate.

None for sale on Gunbroker right now so I'd say they have been pulled from the market.

Of course the irony is that even junk will have value if there are only a few of them, imagine what a Chauchat would be worth today.

THAT's why I keep asking if "anyone" here or anyone you've talked to HAVE recieved this generous refund.

I haven't heard or read of the money actually being paid, just generous promises.

Sent mine back in April as well. Talked to about 6 different people with no resolve. Finally in late June the rep told me to send in my original receipt for a full refund in 6 /8 weeks. Finally received the check last week, and nothing else. No sorry for the inconvenience no nothing. All I have now is a green box & 2 unused magazines (FOR SALE). I really was disappointed with the so called service department so I'll refrain from Remington product's for the time being. The check was for the full retail price + tax $430.00

They've had my pistol since the end of April, if I remember correctly. Called them last week and still no update, no news, just nothing. I don't really care about the refund. I just want the pistol back, working.

Anyone who purchased an R51 may return it and receive a new R51 pistol, along with two additional magazines and a custom Pelican case, by calling Remington at (800) 243-9700.

Nope, not buying it. Not until the guns are out and working will I send back my now-more-rapidly-approaching-unicorn-status-than-I'd-previously-hoped perfectly-functional Mk I R51 :D

Trust, but verify, especially with manufacturers indistinguishable in quality from Soviets ;)

I picked up a copy of "Shooting Illustrated" and the "Letters to the Editor" section had a bit of a scoulding for the review given by Richard Mann. This was rather counter to what I have seen in the paper press so I decided to look in to the issue a bit more.
Here you go!
A great deal of work has been put into changing the manufacturing process as well as the problems of the previous production pistol. The whole problem centers on the difference between prototypes, pre-production pistols and production guns.
AND
I have one of the new pistols being sent to me in October when production allows. I intend to shoot 1,000 rounds through it in a single session. I’ll then report the results to our readers.

To maximize your shooting ability in the extreme stress of a personal defense scenario, The Rock engineers rethought every single design element of the concealed carry handgun, and defined shootability. No subcompact on earth points more naturally or gets you back on target faster than the new Model R51.
And finally !

Journalistic Integrity
The R51 is a firearm that people are going to trust with their lives. One they’ll depend on to protect them when their life is on the line. Despite the massively negative reviews that the gun is getting online and the hundreds of personal accounts from R51 owners having to send their guns back, there isn’t a single mention about the possible issues with the firearm in the dead tree press. How could there be? The slightest whiff of a negative comment could mean losing Freedom Group’s truckloads of ad revenue and getting black-listed down the road. So SI’s review — as it would be with Gun & Ammo, Handguns and American Rifleman — was pre-determined.
As stated these reviews aren't for gun buyers, they are for the gun manufacturers. The press which is dependant upon advertising space in their magazine (dead tree press) is a shill for them, just more and better advertising that, sorry, you pay for.

Well goes to show I should stop in here more often. Had no idea this was a complete flop. Guess I can take it off need to get list.

What a shame. Maybe what Remington needs is a real gun maker to buy it like FN and bring it back to a level of quality.

Will you blow it on the version 2.0 coming in October? :p

TCB
Lol no. I blew it on this, I bought the R51 for my wife. So I replaced it with this and she loves it.

Maybe after it has been out for a year or more I may get one for me if I have extra cash laying around.
