I am really liking my Reverse two tone 226, and I am thinking about a Stainless Elite 229 next.....and it got me to wondering, Has Sig Sauer ever made a nickel plated gun? if so, what model? I like the concept of these custom shop models like the Equinox, Reverse two tone stainless, and the Platinum model, as well as the Stainless Elite.

what other cool models are out there? anything new on the horizon I should wait for? I saw where someone posted those REALLY cool X five models in different colors, but I am sure those are WAY out of my price range.

I would be interested in more of the out of the ordinary models.

In the past, I've read and seen pictures of factory nickeled slides on the P226 and P228, giving them a two-tone appearance. I don't know of any in current production; SIG slides are virtually all machined stainless steel now. Some do have the stainless in a natural finish, which contrasts with the black-anodized frame and gives them a similar two-tone.

You can easily pick up a used stamped carbon steel slide model and have the slide nickeled, if you want to go to the trouble and expense.

I saw some completely nickel plated Sigs the other day on summit gunbroker. I went back and checked just now and they are not longer there. It could be that they were refinished in nickel.

Yes, Sig has made nickel guns in the past. The last run was the GOTM P239s.

Here is a picture of one from the Sig forum. This is not mine (I wish :) )

Sig also made all nickel W.German P220, P225, P226, and P228s. They are pretty hard to come by and are usually a few $100s more than the regular finish Sig. These are not to be confused with the two tone Sigs.

Not mine P225 factory nickel

One last shot courtessy of BigPinoy over on the Sig Forum. He has probably one of the best collection of nickel Sigs. Notice they all have Nills on them!

when Sig Sauer first started importing their own guys...following their importation by Hawes and Browning...they (the folded slide models) were available in bblued and nickeled finishes.

it doesn't make much sense to nickle slides anymore as they are all stainless

I got a 239 that gets carried a lot and the slide release lever is pretty rusty and only about two summers of carry. I also have a 229 in nickel and stainless and the gun still looks almost brand new despite about the same degree of carry.
