I have come to really love 9mm and wand to add another glock to my stable.

I currently have a Glock 26, but not sure if I should get the 19 or 17 now.

I would like to carry concealed and now the G19 will be easier, but I am concerned that the G19 is too close to my G26 to warrant the purchase. I've shot both and shoot them equally, so it really is a coin toss - or time for a poll :D

So, if you had a Glock 26 already, which would you add: G19 or G17???

I WILL purchase the winner of the poll - thank you very much :evil::evil:

I prefer the Glock 19 over the 26 (and shoot it a little better), but if I already had a 26 it would serve the concealed carry role and I would take the 17 as a range/hd gun

1 vote-G17

I'll add a vote for the 19. It is big enough to effectively be used for HD (without sacrificing a full grip as you do on sub compact pistols) and is small enough to be used for CCW if you feel like you want to carry a gun that is a bit easier to shoot. Though if you have any plans on adding a suppressor, a 17 usually suppresses a tad bit better.

That said, I own a G17

Glock 19. I also have a 17 and 34.
The 19 is a good next choice. But the 17 would work, too.
I predict that soon you'll have one of each.

G23 with an LWD 40-9 conversion (G19) barrel. Maybe a 357 Sig (G32) to keep it company.

Thanks for all the advice so far!

Re the 23 - I don't think I want to add another caliber and I know I would just be using a 9mm conversion 99% of the time...

Tied up at 7-7 :D

Won't go wrong with either. I own the G17 and not the G19, but I recommend the G19 because I consider it to be perhaps the ideal combination of compactness, capacity, and reliability. I believe it is Glock's finest product.

... and I don't even own one.

The 19 is so close to the 26 in size I would go with the 17. I can't think of one instance I could hide a 26 that I couldn't hide a 19. That's just me though.

I am in the opposite position in that I own the 19 & 17 already but I still want the 26 so my vote would be to get all 3. sorry

My advice is this, the poll has been up for most of a day and its been pretty close for the most part. Do you find yourself hoping for one or the other to pull ahead? If you do buy that one.

John is spot on. I'm a psychotherapist. You know the old joke that we never give any answers... well, it's because we're trained to use techniques like this one.

I can't comfortably hold G19, the pinky feels pinched. Even though the grip isn't small the spacing between grooves seems to be less than on G17. And I wear small to medium size gloves (small mostly).

I sometimes double-think me having bought a G17, as it seems G19 is a better all round compromise. But other than an extra bit of barrel and grip to hide while carrying, I love everything else about 17 - it's a whole lot more comfortable for me to hold and shoot. And, the diff in size isn't great, G19 and G17 are pretty close, it's about 1/2" each way. If I could only have one gun, I'd try to get used to G19. But 17+26 make a killer combo (pun intended). Since you already have G26 for EDC, I think you'd be more pleased with G17 as your 2nd gun. At some point I am going to get G26, most likely, as I like the Glock platform very much.

A good deal of this is simply personal preference. I prefer the slightly smaller 19, so thats what I have. What I do recommend as worth the money are the trijicon night sights. They add some expense to the gun, but boy, they are pretty sweet.

Realistically, there isn't any mechanical advantage to the gun in that they are pretty much the same. There is some small advantage to the 17 due to the slightly longer sight radius, but while that should result in a more accurate pistol, I don't know that any but the most advanced shooters will really be able to notice a marked difference between the 17 and the 19.

You can find Gen 3's fairly cheaply now, but I went with the Gen 4 for a couple of minor (and partially fixable in the aftermarket) reasons: Better slide release lever, and bigger magazine release button. The slide release is a 10 or 15 dollar fix. I really don't know if the button can be enlarged or improved upon in the aftermarket, but in any event they are already improved in the Gen 4 models. I personally also prefer the gen 4 grip, though truth be told I never minded the Gen 3 grip. It's a small personal preference, not a big one.

Another vote for a G34 as well, I think it and the 26 are the perfect pairing of Glock 9mm's.

I want to like the 19, but it just does not fit my hand well (I have larger hands). However, I love the feel of the 17 and 26. I've noticed the finger groove spacing on the 19 is a bit tighter than that of the 17 and 26. However, my comparison is limited to the 3rd Gen Glocks.

The 19 is one of the best selling Glocks of all time. I don't have one yet myself, but one I would get when purchasing 9mm.
