Unless of course it is a 22Lr rifle barrel. Those should never get cleaned,:what:
Somehow all the wax and crud in the powder just disappears with 22 rimfire,
 
For hitting a broken fragment of a shooting clay, or plastic drink bottles at 30-50 yards, which was already noted in my original remarks (as the "OP"), it seems totally unnecessary.

This is the only context for my comments. I have no desire to work towards the skill of Chris Kyle or Jerry Miculek, to be quite frank.

Might try out the PTR-91's iron sights at 100 yards, >> once or twice <<, but I would then need to find the small binoculars (don't own a spotting scope). This isn't worth an extra amount of constant cleaning work for most of us.
