Okay, before everyone says, "no way can you have too many firearms". I get that some will say that. The question still stands. Do you ever feel like you purchased too many firearms?

I tend to cycle. Buy all winter and then motorcycle season starts. I then tend to cull the collection a bit. I currently have a few duplicates that I just don't need.

We moved a couple years ago. I HAVE WAY TOO MUCH GUN STUFF. Up the stairs down the stairs up the stairs down....:what:

I felt like an anemic Sherpa.

I have reached the point that I can resist buying more guns...based on the fact I buy for a need ...and I currently have a gun for every need.

As mentioned above, I pretty much have enough guns for all my needs. I'm always astounded when I read of people with 50+ guns, or people with 5-10 of a particular model or caliber.

I know for a fact I have too many guns, but man, I just can't help myself; every now and then I see another gun I just can't live without, and ya know what that little stinker follows me home. When I go to meet my maker, my sons are going to have a ball with my vast collection of firearms.

Actually, it crosses my mind periodically that I did not buy enough when they were readily & (relatively) cheaply available.

Uh oh.

Orion;

I'm not buying too many more guns, I certainly don't have a niche that needs filling IMHO. I'm happy with what I have, and there's no burning need to cull the herd.

That being said, if I do run across a stone bargain, I'll buy it, work it over maybe, clean it for sure, and make some beer money off of it. I'm not in the business & actively looking to do the widder lady outta her late husband's gun collection either. It's just a stumble across it sorta thing.

Nope. Never have; don't feel that way now. However, every gun I buy now I do so with the idea of passing it along to a specific relative. So there are considerations other than just suiting my own needs or wants.

As my needs and tastes have changed, I now feel like I have too many rifles and not enough shotguns. Personally, I would rather have a very few, well-made or custom-made guns that I can shoot over and over for a few million rounds than having 6 safes full of guns I never shoot.

I wouldn't say I have ever felt like I have too many. I go in phases. I've been on a "host" kick lately. Every time I see a gun that is factory threaded I buy it as a host for one of my cans. My last phase was milsurp. Before that was very large bore rifles. I can't remember what was before that.

My gun safes would astound you! :what:

Sometimes--- then I sell a few. Then I want to try a few so I acquire a few. Lather rinse repeat. I currently have about 1/3 of the total number I've purchased. Buy 'em, shoot 'em, sell a few, buy some more.

I find the research, search and purchase and shooting fun. I have to sell a few to keep the cash outlay reasonable

Run of the mill guns...yes. Historical martial and some curio guns...no.

That said...I've given all of mine to the family members that could best use them under condition they never be sold. My Wife couldn't care less about them and so I've already "safely" distributed them to my side of the family.

Too many for what?

More than I need? Yes
More than I can enjoy? No

What's the difference between the gun collection I started as a teen and the 8-track tape collection my brother started? My collection has appreciated in value.
