I have a very large HBN bullet and barrel coating kit and was wondering if anyone knows if HBN will successfully adhere to the synthetic coating used to coat hand gun bullets before I try some out.
Figure if it works would it might help to greatly reduce any chances of lead fouling of the barrel.

So is HBN coating of synthetic coated bullets possible and therefore a good idea or not.

Have you been having problems with standard coated bullets leading?

If so, give the hBn a try, but I wouldnt add the extra step unless it's needed.

Getting your bore really clean before shooting coated may be all you need to do.

I use el cheapo Harbor Freight red and haven't had any leading problems even with plain base rifle bullets pushed past 2000 fps.

Haven't had any issues with leading yet just more of a solution in search of a problem I guess. My average MV is 1010fps with 124 grn synthetic coated RD so not a very hot load.

I would change powder coat or tumble lube before I went that route. Standard PC seems to work just fine unless your doing something exceptional like shooting a sharps with a 32" barrel. Fortunecookie45lc talked about traditional lubing after PC in this special case.

Why?

You're not having a problem. You're going to be breathing that HBN if you put it on bullets.

Which coating is on your bullets?
