I have a Benelli m1s90 for HD. It's a very good hd gun - reliable, smooth, short, and highly accurate. But it also cost me 500 bucks (a steal imho here in CA) and it sits in my safe.

My p228 is in my mini vault, and can be accessed quickly - my benelli i keep unloaded and in a safe.

Where do you guys put your HD shotguns? do you leave them out when you leave the house?

And if you have a really cool hd shotgun, by all means share =)

I've got a whole stack of matching 870 police trade ins. One stays under the bed, one next to the bed, one in the closet, and several others hiding under furniture throughout the house. It sounds like a lot, but they were really cheap when I bought a bunch at once.

I figure if I ever have to "use my handgun to fight my way to my long gun" I won't have to go very far.:D

I keep my Mossberg 500 cruiser ready next to the bed at night and in the closet during the day.

In the bedroom also,

which is three steps from my computer/tv chair.small apartment.
No kids so we leave it loaded until the grandkids come over.then unload it and put it high up.still farly handy.

As soon as mine arrives (any day now), it'll have a designated space on a rack 2' above my head in the sleeping loft. (Pistole is under the pillow, between the wall & the mattress.)

In the event of 'bumps' in the night, alls I gotta do is reach up & lift it down.

Between me & 'outside' is three sets of locked doors & a set of stairs.

Ah, life is good, & worth living.

Mine are next to me when I'm asleep. Doors locked.

If I'm out or away, they're unloaded and locked up.

Three 'house guns' here. Since the front door and back door are more or less opposite each other, there's an 870 stashed at either end of the house. That way no one can get cut off from a long gun in case of unexpected visitors. The third lives behind the bedroom door. Everything gets locked up when we leave home, often the bedroom 870 and a canvas pouch of buckshot and slugs goes with us on the road. All have buckshot in the magazine, empty chambers and slugs in the Sidesaddles.

thanks for all the ideas - and here's one

from a very well respected safe machinist and dealer here in ca:

inside the closet, put two gun hooks waaay up right above the lintel (?) frame of the closet entrance. people looking into the closet wont' see anything unless they actually go inside and look up and out. getting it down would simply be a matter of reaching up and lifting it off the rack.

this, of course, is probably easier to do with an auto type shotgun as it will have a slightly slimmer profile.

now all i have to do is figure out how much weight my drywall closet can support, and where the studs are...

....

i don't like taking the shotgun in and out of the closet because this causes excessive wear on the safe. considering tha tmy safe is a cheapo sentry, it probably can't take much wear... heh.

if someone knows something about how much wear a sentry can take , do let me know.

In the safe.

I would prefer to put it in a secure touch-pad unlocking mount by the bed, but this isn't practical at the moment. For now I have the 1911 and a 2 cell MAG-Lite by the bed, and the 870 is a backup.

I saw a great mount on a thread here, but have been unable to find it again.

Can anyone provide more info on that mount? Source? URL?

Thanks,

Nem

It retails for $70-$90, but someone posted a link here about 6 months ago for a company that sold them for $35.

It covered the trigger and ejection port, and could hold non-PG shotguns. The back of it was drilled for mounting.

I really want to find it again.

You are ready !!!!!!!!! I have one in the closet

Winchester 1300 under the bed, cruiser ready, with some Federal Low Recoil Personal Defense, 00 buck and a slug, buttcuff w/ 5 more. Marlin 336 in closet with 5 in the tube and buttcuff w/ 10 more. That should get me to the serious artillery. :p

Thanks, NB. It sounds like something I'd like. I'll help you look for it. If I find it, I'll post it here or PM you.

This isn't it, but the product I saw looked a LOT like this, but with a mounting panel underneath it.

Well, I confess, I like that one better than the gunvault that NoBrakes found.

I want wall-mountability. (Is that a word?) My concern with the gun vault is that a person could still walk off with the gun, with an intention of trying to get it off later.

With the Loc-Box, that's less likely. (I say "less likely" because given the time & a sawsall, "they'll" get it if they want it.)

What I'd like even more is something like these:

http://www.swps.com/progshotgung.html

http://sageinternationalltd.com/si/secacc/secacc.html

http://www.swps.com/progshotrac.html

I want to mount my shottie over my bed for easy access. During the day, when I'm not home, or when [invited :p ] guests are over, it could be locked.

They're pretty spendy though. :what:

The LocBox could be a good, affordable compromise.

Anybody here had any experience with any of them?

I'm very happy with my loc-box. The Long Gun Vault comes with a wall mount. It has the bicycle lock that supposedly can be opened with a bic pen though. I have one of Long Gun Vaults with the wall mount but I haven't used it yet. I bought it at Sporstmansguide.com for 30 bucks or so but I don't see them on their site anymore. These used to sell for almost $200 before the bic pen thing was uncovered.

Anyway, I unlock mine in the evening and lock it in the morning.

Sorry I can't answer your original question about the Benelli.
