Recently someone posted a website that had a comprehensive list of headstamps, manufacturers, etc. I can't find the post now, any one remember the link?

Got some 8mm brass at home. The color is a little darker than I expected. I wanted to look it up. Wish I could remember the markings. I will try to post later.

Resurrecting this thread to see if anybody knows what these cases I picked up at the range this morning are as the above link doesn't seem to have the headstamp info. listed. The cases have a bright, brass head and a darker, almost copper looking body. The headstamp reads:

BF
79
74

BF is made by > Fábrica Nacional de Munições de Armas Legeiras, Chelas, Portugal < The 79 and 74 is the year, it is in my above link.

O.K., but there's a second 'BF' listed in Norway---why is it not that one? And how do you have two dates of manufacture?

BF Bakelittfabrikken A/G, Aurskog, Norway Good you looked lol The ammo is made more than just one year, so i am guessing they made it a few years. Take measurement of the case and go here http://www.stevespages.com/page8d.htm if you can match the caliber to the county, maybe that will help finding out what you have

Thanks for the info. The link to Steves' site was especially helpful as I was able to confirm that these cases are 308 and 1/2. So, I'm guessing probably Portugese manufacturer? Any idea what fires this odd looking round?

Well, since we're asking, I know WCC is Winchester, but is that headstamp for military ammo? I have several pieces of .223 brass thus marked. TIA.
