Thickest 45acp brass I have found in my stash.. my rockchucker is struggling to move it.

I've only found a handful--was this +p or something?

the first time I ever heard about it was at THR and everyone said the same thing....Recycle bucket...immediatley

Junk it. If you’re lucky, you won’t have so many off center flash holes that it bends the decapper pin.

I have loaded thousands & thousands of these with zero issues, not to mention with great success.

I surely can't be the only one here that is more talented than everyone else that has posted so far!?!?!?!?

But seriously folks... I haven't ever touched a piece of this stuff.

Just so you know...
I'll be here all week. Tell all of your friends.
Be sure to tip your waitress!

I would like to welcome our next act to the stage....

.(My apologies. I'm sorting head stamps and needed to exhale for a second)

Those first 2 lines had me going!

I really tried to load AMERC 45ACP. Just happened that I picked up a bunch right as I was starting & had virtually no stash of brass at all. It's not just that it was ugly, or inconsistent, or I just preferred something else - I literally could not size it, flare it, then seat a bullet. It wasn't odd or off a little, it was downright unusable and I couldn't load it. I wanted to - brass was brass and I had maybe 150 pieces total, a good 1/3 was AMERC so I had reason to use it and tried to make it work. Simply could not - no matter what I did, bullet would just plop down to bottom of case.

Amerc brass has a stepped case

Something like that.

The key to reloading it is heat treatment. The thinner section tends to be work hardened with firing, so the heat treat is essential, and not that difficult. So if you have a big pile, follow these steps and you'll be back to shooting in no time

1. Don't tumble your Amerc brass before heat treat, you can run 100-500 cases at a time depending on the size of your equipment.
2. Place your dirty brass in a heavy steel container, or graphite if you have it. I like to use an old fire extinguisher that I cut the top off of
3. Put that into an electric oven, or furnace...anything really, just has to be able to get up to about 950°F
4. Once the casings have liquefied, pour them into ingot molds
5. Trade those brass ingots for usable brass casings

Nothing to it really:D

To get a full page worth of agreeing sentiment is a testament to just how bad this is, and a little funny
If you start a thread asking if a model 500 is a decent shotgun by the third or fourth reply you get an argument saying no get the Nova or 870. And vice-versa. That's just how personal opinions work
Is a hip mounted browning m2 adequate for small black bear defense....more argument
If a thread stated that ice cream was cold there would be argument there too about how cold is relative.
Just pointing out how impressed I am to see 20 posts in agreement to trash a particular brand of brass, especially from a crowd that treats used brass as a precious metal. I have personally witnessed fights over someone picking up the wrong brass from good folks who would give you the shirt off their back..... just not their sharpie marked, 3 times used, annealed, and sorted by weight brass.

Armscorp and amerc go into the bucket with my oops brass. Lol.

I know one guy who insisted he was going to load AMERC .45 acp brass, but the primers kept falling out of the oversized primer pockets. He used gasket glue to hold them in place and fired them one time, just so he could say he'd done it.

They go instantly into my recycling buckets when I find them.

Hope this helps.

Fred

They used to make 38 spl for pistol only no extractor groove!
You couldn’t use it in a rifle ,ask a cowboy action shooter
about their brass

THE worst brass/loaded ammo that I have ever had the pleasure of trying to use. I would be afraid the brass would pollute the rest of the recycled brass pile if it was pitched in together.

AMerc=:barf:
Straight to the recycle can.

na, you need a least a 105mm for Black bears, a 155mm for Brown Bears;)

Not just 20 posts but endless list of threads - https://www.google.com/search?q=ame...j54KHdsVCgcQrQIoBDAAegQIABAM&biw=1366&bih=610

I guess it's time for another myth busting thread on "Just how bad is A-MERC brass" ... JUST KIDDING! :D:neener:
