Greetings,

Does anyone have any terminal ballistic performance data for the heavy weight .357 factory loads out of handguns? I am looking for velocity/penetration/expansion data in water, gelatin, phone books, clay, meat, road kill, etc. There is much data available for the lighter weight JHPs, but the heavy loads always get left out. Some loads I have in mind are:

165 gr. Rem Core-Lock JHP
170 gr. Speer Gold Dot JSP
170 gr. Buffalo Bore JHP
180 gr. Fed and Rem JHPs
180 gr. Fed Cast Core LFN
180 gr. Win Partition Gold JHP
180 gr. Bufflao Bore LFN
180 gr. Cor-Bon JSP
200 gr. Cor-Bon LFN

Thanks for your input!

Winchester Partition Gold 180 gr. JHP, fired from a 4" S&W Model 686:

Bare gelatin, velocity 1075, penetration 18.1", expansion .57", recovered weight 171.1 grs.

Gelatin covered with 4 layers of denim, velocity 1090, penetration 20+", expansion .39", recovered weight 175.6 grams.

Source of this information is tacticalforums.com

I am also interested in how these heavier 180gr loads feel out of a 3in SP101 or a 2.5in 686 Plus.

I wanted to carry a 180gr slug in a smalaler package as a comparable option to a 10mm in 175-200gr form.

Thanks for all experiences shared.
