Heir to the K38 Target Masterpiece?

In today's handgun hype of conceal carry/tactical type sidearms that are top sellers in the handgun market now I was wondering if there is anything new available in the wheelgun niche specifically for target/bullseye shooters. Something along the lines of the great Smith Model 14; K38 Target Masterpiece?

Does it have to be a DA revolver? If not how 'bout something from Freedom Arms. If yes, how 'bout a Manurhin MR-73 Match? Or something from from S&Ws Performance Center? A 627 V-comp, maybe?

Too bad Freedom Arms doesn't make a DA revolver. I'd plunk the $$ down.

I was looking at the Beretta Copy of the Russian Schofield, they make a model with adjustable sights in 44 spl or Russian. Your don't need a DA gun.
I wonder about the accuracy of this gun.

I have a 8 3/8 M-14, I shoot bullseye with. Smart people use 1911's
I'm thinking about doing a drill and tap job for a red dot sight.

Bullseye target shooters seldom if ever still use .38 revolvers these days, so there is little incentive for manufacturers to come out with a revolver designed for that particular market. Excellent S&W K38 Masterpiece and Colt Officers Model revolvers are available on the used market – often for very attractive prices. Most of today’s buyers aren’t interested in 6” .38 Special’s, and I am delighted with this turn of events. If you are determined to buy a new gun you’ll probably have to settle for a .357 Magnum with adjustable sights and a 6-inch barrel. Smith & Wesson, Taurus and Ruger make such revolvers, but I’d sooner pick up a good used thirty-eight…

Yeah, the 14 is the "Target Masterpiece" (6"). a 15 is the same, basically (except for standard trigger and hammer), but 4" - "Combat Masterpiece." Yet another variation is the Model 67 - "Combat Masterpiece (Stainless)" - same 4" gun as a 15 but in stainless steel.

All affordable used, all excellent. I have had a 15 or 67 on hand for 15 years now. The ultimate go-to S&W for an accurate 4" .38.

I like to use my K32 Model 16 no dash for revolver target. Haven't found a single new product that can outshoot it and fit's me as well.

To answer the op's questions, unfortunately there is nothing new on the market that is equivalent to a Smith (or Colt Officers Match for that matter) model 14, K38 Target Masterpiece, fine revolvers that were developed primarily for bullseye target shooting, nor has there been for several years now.

However, as others have noted, there fortunately are Target Masterpiece and Officers Match revolvers still to be had at decent prices in the used gun market. Get 'em while you can because it doesn't take a chrystal ball to predict that the likes of these superb revolvers will not be seen again.

For really serious target work, the good old Model 14 is still hard to beat. An MR73, or a high priced Korth would be the only alternatives for me.
