I have a Sig GSR Revolution (no rail) and am looking for a good IWB holster. I am a relatively poor graduate student and don't want a box full of all the holsters that weren't worth it under my bed. I started with a Wilson Featherweight, but it doesn't really keep the gun from moving around, even with a tight gun belt (1.5" wide 3/16" thick bull hide).

I am 6" 165 lbs. and have been looking at the VMII, HBE's Com 3, K&D's Cochise and Dakota Defenders, the MacDaniel II from Andrews, and a few other similar models. I also am curious what people think about the reinforced mouth band: is it worth the extra thickness? Also, are holsters with a single offset loop like the NSAII or MacDaniel II stable? I want a thin but durable holster. I know I'm asking alot, but would appreciate the help. If anyone has a used specimen in good condition, I wouldn't mind purchasing it. Thanks in advance for the help.

I have the Cochise Defender for a Taurus 24/7. I have to say that it took me a good couple of months of wearing it before it really became comfortable to wear. The quality of the construction, though, is obvious. I fully expect the gun to live in this holster for many, many years.

I've heard a lot of good things about the VM II, also, buit I don't own one for comparison. Eric over at HBE makes really outstanding holsters. Lately, I've read that he's having some difficulties meeting delivery dates.

Thanks for the info. Is the Cochise thin? Does it have a backshield? Are the clips comfortable? They seem pretty big.

I've had great luck with both my VM2 and a COM2 from HBE. Can't speak of service from the other holsters.

The Versa Max II is excellent! Very sturdy, comfortable, the reinforced opening makes reholstering a breeze and the offset belt loops secure it very well to my Wilderness belt. I've worn mine all day for ~16 hours. It is pricey though. I was lucky and found a good condition used one for sale.

Not cheap but for me the alternative to "box-o-holsters" is Milt Sparks Versa Max 2. This and a good belt are the only option for me in IWB. And for a few extra bucks Lightning Arms is a great source for them if you don't want to wait on ordering one direct.

I decided to order a Com 3 from HBE today. After talking to Eric about the options and contruction, I am confident I will be getting a great rig. Thanks for the help.

Polish...it was nice talking to you. There are alot of great companies out there and they make alot of great stuff.......
Ill get you your leather and then you can decide if you made the right choice.
Shoot well and god bless

1911 Holster

You can't beat a Milt Sparks Summer Special holster for a 1911 type pistol.

Milt Sparks Summer Special 2 for a 5" 1911.

Brownells has them in stock now (with 1 1/2" belt loops) for 77.00. I just bought one 2 weeks ago.

My first choice is a Sparks VM II with a Summer Special a close #2.
