I just picked up a Savage Mark 2 with the AccuTrigger. I scavenged a Bushnell Illuminated 3-9x40 scope and a one-piece mount from a Crosman that I haven't used in a while. Using CCI Mini-Mags (HP), the accuracy was nothing short of spectacular (and I'm DEFINITELY no sharpshooter), and I was easily pulling sub-1" groups at 50 yards.

I'd like this scope/mount combination back on the Crosman, so this gives me an excuse to pick up another scope and a set of mounts. I don't need anything fancy, I'd like to be able to hit (accurately) out to 100 yards plinking and probably 75 yards hunting. My budget is less than $100 for the scope and less than $50 for the rings. Can anyone help?!

I'd like to retain zooming ability, I don't care for the illumination, and the scopes have to be able to mount to the standard rimfire 3/8" base.

Upon researching I found that the Barska AC10830 paired with the Leupold No-Tap Rimfire mounts might work. Does anyone have anything better?

I like the Millet vertical split rings. Strong, light, inexpensive (under $8 for a pair), and they look good. I typically use three rings, instead just two (there so cheap, cost isn’t a limiting factor). One ring between the turrets and the ocular lens, and two rings between the turrets and the objective lens. The only limitation is they only come in one height. So if you mount a 50mm scope (and why would you on a simple plinking .22?) it may not clear the barrel.

Now you can spend $135 on your scope. I’d look for something in the 2-7x32 range. My favorite is the Japanese made Bushnell Trophy 1.75-5x32 (p/n 731500). Perfect for a .22. Costs around $120, a good deal for Japanese build quality & glass.

Please don’t put a big fat hawg of a 3-9x40 or 4-12x50 scope on it. Or even worse, something with an adjustable objective. Add’s fragility and wastes money. I always laught to myself when I see a big ol’ chinese 50mm AO scope on someone’s little plinker.

I'm using Medium Weaver rings from Walmart ~$7 and a BSA Sweet 22 3-9x40 $36 and like both for 22. The problem of buying scopes for 22 for me is don't need anything with large mag, a 2-7 or 3-9 are nice fits, but I can not live without target type knobs. The nicer brands generally don't have nice knobs on their scopes in that range. The Muellers are popular for people that what high mag scopes 4-14 or above for ~$120. Even with budget optics seeing stuff within 200yds is not a problem.

i have had good luck with a nikon prostaff 4x, which comes with very good tip-off rings, but as savage uses weaver bases, i like the origional weaver rings, and leupold rifleman rings as well, the scope runs $100 at walmart, and $12-13 dollars for the leupold rifleman rings, also at walmart for verticle, and arround 16 for horizontal rings.

I recently picked up a 2-7x 32mm center point scope from walmart and put it on a 10/22. So far so good, it was about $60 and comes with rings.

RCModel.
My brother just gave me that exact scope. He had it on a .17 Remington & was always knocking the turrets accidently. I gladly took it. Nice Scope. I have had good luck with the cheap Bushnells.

Easy; kwiksite, makes a variety of diff types of rings, mounts,tip off blocks. the best scope made, under 100 bucks is this;

opticsplanet_2009_401068623.gif
notice it's stats;
adult, spring piston, air rifle rated.
allready comes with massive claw mounts.
smallish size scope, only a 32mm up front, so id doesn't look huge.
adjustable objective , which focuses down to 7 ft.
all steel construction, when you pick it up, it has deff weight.
Check midsouth, or optics planet, but don't get the one for centerfires;
itiis not air rifle rated, and has no adjustable objective.
it is the Tasco Golden Antler series.

Go to ChinaMart and get a BSA or Bushnell 4X for about $30 and some $10 scope rings - you'll be tickled pink with the outcome!

+1 on the Nikon Prostaff 4X

Also, if the Savage Mark II has integral Weaver mounts like the Savage 93 magnum rimfires, I suggest getting a set of the Leupold Rifleman vertical split rings. They're a lot like the Millett rings previously mentioned, but you can get them at most Wal-Marts.

The Bushnell Sportsman 3X9 variable, european type focus ring and Target style knobs, is one heck of a good scope, for around $100.00.
B-Square offers vertical split ring and bases for under 50$
