I have a type 99 arisaka which has a cut in the receiver for some kind of scope mount. Does anyone know who made the mount that interfaces with this, or maybe have one? The rifle only has a front sight, and I really want to see if it prints worth a darn. haywire is just not cutting it.

you're talking about the dove tails right. did you see how wide they are? they may just be another ring mount size.

That is not a dovetail. every angle is 90 degrees. that surface has been cut on the receiver to accept an intermediary mount like a b-square, or something vaguely like the ring for an M1-D. I'm sure it's not unheard of, but i've never seen a set of dovetails cut on the side of a receiver. (that cut is on the left side of the action. note the position of the trigger components in the photo)

I have to determine what brand of thing that cut is built to accept so i can then acquire one. Then i can mount a scope, and hopefully get the rifle to print a six inch or less group.

Here you go:

And the site: http://www.cruffler.com/trivia-September00.html

You've clearly got an ex-sniper there. I compared it to my Type 99 for reference. It should be a very good shooter.

This may also be of benefit: http://www.radix.net/~bbrown/japanese_markings.html

Check this current auction. It has a replacement standard rear sight: http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=125949400. You're probably not going to be able to find a genuine scope for it, as they're extremely rare and can run over $1000.

No schnit? are you cereal? Do you have a sniper model to compare the receiver cuts to?

The extremely badly lined up threaded holes led me to believe this was a conversion. This falls in to the same category as my #4MKI(T) I need a mount for it too, and it has no sights whatsoever.

I take it the scope and mount for the arisaka sniper is a unit? That is to say, the scope is irremovable as the mount is a part of the scope tube?
