Alright...Here is the deal. I flew back home to Boston and spent the weekend with my family. While there I came across 8 boxes/400 rnds of unused 9MM ammo. Problem? I dont have a 9MM....I have all .40SW. I am using this as an excuse to go and buy a 9MM...:D

I just bought a CZ40 so I would like to keep the price down. I am not looking for a kimber, glock, or anything that would run me over $500....I want $300-$400 MAX range.

I almost bought a S&W Sigma in the 40, but then I bought the glock...i might buy one in the 9MM. I was also thinking of maybe a 24/7 from taurus......

thoughts?

The taurus sounds like a good bet. Maybe even check out the PT111. Unfortunately i'm not sure as to whether or not the particular model of CZ you have can have a barrel that converts to 9 (Though since its somewhat rare, i sort of doubt it), but its worth looking into.

I would prefer to keep the cz a 40....remember...I am using this as an excuse to buy a new gun...lol.:p

Good, the CZ-40 will never be a 9mm.:) But, you could go look for a used CZ75, and increase your affection for CZs! That's around $350 most where I have looked.
Other than that, the Star Model BM used to go for $150, when they were around, good luck now...

If you simply want a reliable but not necessarily a pretty 9mm look into a Star Firestar (7 rd compact) or Star M30 Starfire (15 round). Both totally reliable, the 7 rd is compact, the 15 rd about lime a 1911,combat accurate, probably last 150K rds or more. Too bad Star is no longer in business. They just weren't pretty.

I'd suggest trying to find a Taurus PT-92, should come in a bit under $400. The 24/7 is pretty nice if you want a plastic gun. CZ75B is great but used is the only way it'll come in under $400 now as word has got out about how good they really are (same as with Springfield XD).

IMHO any of the above are way better than the Sigma. I've seen the new S&W M&P 9mm for about $400 and they got a special going on where you get two free mags from S&W if you buy soon which makes a pretty good deal overall.

Some good suggestions in this thread. For an inexpensive 9mm that is rock solid check out the CZ75 as has already been suggested.

My buddy...

...just got his Steyr M9A1 after shooting my S9 a few weeks back for the first time. We went to the range today - he's in love. The Steyrs are little known but adored by owners.

That said, maybe branch out a bit. A Kel-Tec Sub2000 9mm carbine is a great little gun, runs about $300-$325. Nice to have a long gun that fits into a pizza box (they fold in half, in case you don't know). I love mine. :D

Another one chiming in for the Ruger P89, can be picked up used for anywhere from $250-350, depending on where you are. I got mine NIB for $369.

Thanks for the info guys...I really like the two tone Ruger P89 and or the 95. Can anyone tell me the primary difference between the two?

I am liking the Bersa and the Rugers for the price. I am going to stop by my local shop and see what they have in the used stuff as well as new.

I am also liking the Taurus PT24/7 Pro in the black with the stainless slide. Doesnt seem bad for $375

My Ruger P95 has been superb.

It is a bit smaller than the P89, has a more ergonomic grip, and has a polymer frame, whereas the P89 has an alloy frame.

New, I would consider a Ruger P-95. Great gun for self defense or home protection.

Used, Many more options. S&W 3rd gen Police trade in pistols come to mind as being great guns for the money. I got a 6906 for less than $250.
