Help lobby for a new run of Ruger Old Army's.

I not only asked for a run of the Old Army, but also suggested a .50 cal version, as well as a 5 shot .36 cal version to be similar to the Remington model. Worth suggesting I felt.

Ruger Built and Sold over 1 Million guns this year. I don't think there is any financial business sense to do an Old Army run, but it might be a good PR stunt and they have been making money, so you never know, but I doubt it will happen.

What if Ruger had an off shore plant build them "To Ruger Specifications" ?

Has there ever been a 50 caliber revolver in cap and ball. Even in five shot the cylinder would be humongous in diameter not to mention enough length to get a useable velocity. What purpose would it address. Just thinking out loud. Take a gander at the modern 50's with modern steels and bullet and powder tech. The things make my 44 mags look look toys and are way beyond the average Joes' ability to shoot.

The Clements custom conversion is made from a stock Old Army. It uses .490" RB's or .488" bullets.

It would be nice to have a pistol that uses the same ammo your rifle does. But it can also make it a little more useful for hunting bigger things. Some use PP'd .500 cal pistol bullets in their rifle, which could be resized to work in the pistol negating the need for another mold.

I'm having a heavy bullet designed for my ROA because I'll be moving somewhere soon, and that could very likely put me into bear country. I'd prefer a .50 cal over my .45 cal, though a .45 cal heavy bullet ought to do OK.

I'd be all over one in .54 cal too!

I sent in my comment, didn't ask for any changes...hard to improve on perfection :)

I did ask him to keep the cost at 1976 pricing

I went ahead and asked as well. I'd love a pair, it's not the kind of thing I'd like to buy used online (especially at current prices), and I've never seen one locally.

I wrote and asked.

Mind you, Ruger profits are at an all time high. For them to tool up to produce anything means down time for a production line. That means that they're not making anything while things are being set up. That's lost profits.

I also asked that if they couldn't, couuld they please make a cap & ball cylinder for the 44 Super Blackhawk?

I'd like to see a 5 shot .36 cal version of the Bearcat and a 6 shot .36 cal version of the Single Six.
Cap and ball, of course.

It would be nice however muzzleloaders and cap n ballers are a minority. Most people would not even consider purchasing a non modern firearm.

I would fear that Ruger would not be able to make enough profits.

Another problem is the price that a firearm made to the quality standards of the Old Army is something that a lot of muzzleloaders shy away from.

They might have gotten some of the historical reenactment market if they made the exterior a close enough duplicate of a period correct revolver while keeping the modern steels and internals.

That said I lover the Ruger Old Army either way.

I truly hope that was in jest Malachi.
Ruger is an AMERICAN icon.
That would flat out be blaspheeeemous !!
I hope they learned their lesson with their 'off shore' Air Hawk and never go down that road again.
