Help mounting an EOTECH on Mini 14

This would be your best bet and put it as low as you can on a Mini-14

I'd suggest you try and trade the EOTech for a tube optic as it will mount lower. An EOTech will most likely require a riser or different stock.

I don't know how high the Eotech will sit on it but you might investigate putting it on an ultimak rail. My guess is that the eotech will sit too high for a proper cheek weld. However, I don't know what option would put an eotech any lower. The problem is they are designed to be AR sight height.
I take it you already have the eotech. If not (and probably even if you do) an aimpoint on an ultimak is likely a better setup for the mini.

I am not familiar with aimpoint other than pics in ads.
are they shaped like an eotech? smaller?
I have other red dot sights but just have a greater comfort level of accuracy
with eotech, but from what I read the aimpoint is well regarded as a
very good optic.
I appreciate the help as I only want to do this once.

I own and use both the Eo 552 and the aimpoint T-1 micro.....both are excellent sights.....I have seen both used in " rough service" for prolonged periods and they are both top of the line IMO......the T-1 is very compact and virtually indestructible.....I have seen them deliberately abused in product evaluation tests , where the object was to try and damage/destroy the optic. I have seen the T-1 survive abuse that was simply mind boggling. Pick either one and you have a winner in my book.

I have the 552. What rail do you have yours mounted on?
Would I be better to get an aimpoint T 1 since from your description
it would be lower than the 552?

The Micro will be way lower than the EoTech, maybe low enough that the iron sights will be visable thru the optic. The Micro also has much better battery life.
New, with a mount, the Micro Aimpoints go for around $550.

In response to post #9 I use GG&G throw lever mounts, I use throw lever mounts on every tactical optic that I use. This mount replaces the normal 552 base and makes it as low as the 552 is going to get. The T-1 is more compact and line of sight will be somewhat lower and it may co witness with your iron sights.....I use these optics on AR's,AK's and .308 battle rifles like the G-3 and M1A.....I am going to try these also on the Mini 14 since this rail system is now available.
