I tried to remove the front bead sight of my Maverick 88 and it was completely frozen. I tried first with a 4mm socket and it almost immediately, and with little force, stripped the sight. I then tried some pliers but it didn't work. I'm in a bad place now.

Do I need to try some needle nose vice grips or some heat, or both? Any help would be most appreciated.

I would probably start by soaking in penatrating oil. Then I would try to break it with some vice grips. I would probably wrap some type of masking or painters tape around the barrel to keep from scratching it. I would be carefull with the heat too that can destroy blueing if you get it too hot.

I'm no expert for sure that's just what I would probably try. You would probably get better advice by asking this question in the Gunsmithing and Repairs forum.

You're right, I should have posted in there. I will try your ideas however

also, if a mod wouldn't mind moving this to the Gunsmithing and Repairs forum I would most appreciate it.
