Help tearing apart my 870 express

I'm trying to get the retainer out of my mag tube. The instructions tell me to insert a screwdriver into the open end and pry it otu.. Only problem is mine has no open end and looks nothing like the picture either... I'm a little confused because I can't get it out...

This is the piece right under the cap that holds the spring in... anybody know what I need to do to get it out.
 
Is this a old or new 870 ?

The old ones had what resembles a washer with a split in it when viewed from th top. Screwdriver inserted, wiggle and "pull" upwards. Careful - under pressure so eye protection and point away from face. NO dimple in mag tube style. Detent in part that fits around frictioned against mag cap.

If New version and appears black and plastic, with a "slot " in the center, insert screwdriver, 1/4 turn and it will "pop up" this frictions against the mag cap. You will then need to depress and turn again slightly for these to come out ~ 1/8 turn. No detent, have dimple in mag tube style.
