Ok what I have are some Ranch Dog TLC454-290-RF molded bullets with the GC. Now I looked over his loading tips and see he calls for a load of Lil'Gun of 25.5 gr while in another spot he shows a maximum of 24 gr of Lil'Gun.

I'm looking for a minimum load for Lil'Gun with the 290 gr .454 bullet. This is to be fired out of a Rossi 92 Rifle with 20" octagon barrel in 45 colt. These are for pigs and perhaps deer at close ranges not more than 100 yards.

I'm a bit leery of starting at the maximum levels ever and prefer to work up. I would especially appreciate any information from anyone that might have used the powder or bullet. Both are brand new to me and find little on Lil'Gun or this bullet as far as listed.

Start with the lower load work your way up to the 25.5 load. You might want to try H110/296 for those heavy bullets.

The single load when listed would be considered MAX and you should reduce by 10% for a starting load. That requires a little math.;) I usually work up to max in 5 steps at minimum watching for problems as I shoot them and stop if I find any. Then use the most accurate load of the ones used and try a bit above and below to find the best load----repeat as necessary till you like the results. When using H110/296 do not reduce from published loads if you do this.

Thanks Highlander and FROGO but he clams the best result are gotten with the Lil'Gun which I do have. H110/296 I don't have nor would use for something else. I will start with his listed maximum load of 24 gr then reduce that down 10% as a starting load. What was bothering was the fact he listed 24 as max then posts he shoots it with 25.5 as max.
