My deer hunting has changed a little and have been shopping around to replace my old non-scoped mosin M44 with a scoped 30-06 or 270.I have owned a Remington 7600 270 for 21 years and absolutly love it like the day I purchased it.I have been debating between a new Marlin XL7 in 3006 or 270 and a deal I found on a Remington 760 carbine 3006.Well I took the plunge and put the Remington on layaway. Did I make a mistake?Looking to shoot out to maybe 250 yard max most shots will be 75-150.Will the carbines accuracy be suffucient or the Marlins that much better?Would appreciate oppinions on either Thanks

I have a 7600 rifle and a 7600 carbine, both .30-06. The rifle can easily reach out to 400yrds the carbine only about 50 yrds less with decent hunting accuracy.Nothing done to either one save scoped and slung. Both are only good for 3-5 shots before they start to print stings tho'. If you wait for good shots it should do well for you. It is nice to have the very fast follow-upshots if in close!:)

When sighting it in REMEMBER with that skinny barrel it will heat up very quickly and accuracy will degrade just as fast. Take your time and let it cool from shot to shot.

I love guns too - buy new ones, and go back to the old ones... but I always buy more new ones... Is something wrong with me?

I would replace the 7600 with the new model of the same line! I think it is the 760?
