Help with revolver sights

Hello all,
I recently bought a Taurus Tracker (.44/2.5 inch), and I am trying to replace the front sight with a better one. The sights on this gun are unlike my other pinned sight revolvers, and more in line with a dovetail semiauto slide sight. Does anyone know the measurements of this factory sight?

it should be child's play for a competent smith to change that front dovetail to anything you want. I had the front sight on my old 686 milled off and a channel cut in so a smith blade could be dropped in it, and it was still under $100.

Dr. Dingus, what sort of replacement did you have in mind? Personally, always found fiber optics to be about as good as it gets.
Have you found a dovetail sight maker you like? Be in touch with them; it is unlikely Taurus has used a proprietary dovetail. Changing out dovetail sights isn't that big a deal.

I'm guessing if you remove the lite tube, you'll see a set screw underneath it.
Or shine a light down thru it and look for that set screw.

I want a tritium nightsight of some kind.

I would prefer not to alter the gun with tools if possible. There has to be a nightsight that can be itself modified to slide. I just don't know the measurement of the sight itself.

Green would, yeah. If I knew the size of the fiber optic rod, I'd just push a new one in.
I would contact Taurus. On that link I found they do have a green FO sight for the Judge, but I didn’t see any Light Pipes available on that site. The Judge sight may fit your revolver, but Taurus should be able to tell you that.

I hope you find a sight that works for you.

Never found Taurus/Rossi customer service especially responsive, though perhaps they are better now. They have made a sincere effort for the American market.
Failing at that, perhaps contact even Midway, and explain what you need.
I'll grant you, determining the height of the existing sight is a challenge; where to measure from?
Again, try talking to sight makers or vendors.
