This may not come as news for some...but it may be for others.
For those of us who have a 9mm Star BM...steel frame...or BKM...alloy frame...and you're having trouble finding fresh recoil springs. It's come to my attention that the recoil springs for Smith & Wesson M39/M59 series 9mm pistols can be trimmed to work perfectly. This includes all second generation Smiths including the 3913 and 5903 variants. It's been suggested that the spring for the 3913s may work okay without trimming, but a check for coil bind would still be advised.
So far, no word on the Star PD .45 caliber pistols.
