I am trying to find out how to take apart my Henry Lever Action rifle. It is model H001, I believe.

In the manual they say there is no need to take it apart. I find this some of the worst advice I have ever heard. I am mechanically inclined, and have plety of time (it's not my only rifle) and space to work on it. I have shot maybe 250 rounds through it, and I just want to clean the insides and the factory grease off of it. I also noticed some light surface rust on some of the places I couldn't reach that I could take care of with steel wool and oil.

I have A Henry 22 lever gun....
Just start taking the screws out and everything will kind of take care of itself. The action just slides down out of the bottom of the receiver sort of. its hard to explain but if you are mechanically inclined, im sure it wont be a problem. I took mine apart and cleaned it without any problems. and it did function much better after a good cleaning.

Is there anything I should worry about? Like springs and stuff flying off in all directions?

I learned a trick somewhere on here...It was to take things apart in a plastic bag to keep pins and springs from flying everywhere.

haha that sounds like a good idea....one of experience!
I cant say for sure yes or no about the springs, It has been a while since I last took mine apart. I think there may be one spring towards the bottom with a cap on it that I specifically remember, but nothing too difficult Im pretty sure. It was the first levergun I ever took apart, without any prior knowledge at all.
I think you will be fine, just take your time and dont loose anything.

I have a Golden Boy and have taken it apart and nothing flew apart on me. I just unscrewed the 2 screws in the receiver and the 2 holding the receiver to the stock and the two halves of the receiver should seperate. I assume they are built the same but I dont know for sure. Aslong as you take your time and be carefull you should be fine.
