Another long time non-owner.
I think some of it is a prejudice against the original M16.
I also think I'd be more likely to get something in 7.62x39 than a .223
I did have a friend who switched from .308 to .223, but that was due to a severe hand injury that made the .308 painful for him to shoot. So I admit they have their uses, but they not my cup of tea.
