Thanks for the heads up, George.

This gun is at the top of my short list for a carry 9mm. I had just about settled on the Sig P320 but have decided I want nothing to do with it since Sig raised the price on the caliber X-change kits $100 overnight without advance warning, pricing them so high it makes no sense to buy one.

I would like to try the Walther PPQ before settling on the HK VP9 though.

I think the appeal on most such things is for locales that limit the # of handguns you can own or put a lot of red tape around buying a new one. Conversion kits let you shoot something different without actually having to buy a new gun.

That is a good price. I got mine for $599 shipped with factory night sights which, to me, was a better deal but only because I always go with night sights. Excellent price. HKSpecialist normally sells 'em for $549 too but they're out of stock right now. However they do have the LE version (night sights + 3 mags) for $639. That's a great deal since mags are almost unobtanium right now.

Well, actually the appeal for me was that at the prior price, with the 20% off coupon offered by Sig at the prior price, I could afford to buy a carry sized P320 in .45 caliber and buy a 9mm compact caliber X-change kit.

I need a compact but reasonable sized 9mm polymer framed, striker-fired pistol and I don't particularly like subcompacts. But in actuality I seldom carry, I really prefer shooting .45 caliber out of either a full-sized pistol or at least one with a full-sized grip, and I would have left the pistol in that configuration as a home defense gun or truck gun 95% of the time.

It would have been very nice, however, to have the option to switch to the 9mm caliber for practice with more economical ammo and have exactly the same trigger action. This type of thought was much encouraged by Sig.

So why not just buy two complete pistols? Simple, I can't afford it at this time. So it looks as if I will just be buying the 9 mm carry piece. In that case, the HK VP9 and PPQ definitely deserve consideration. I accept that the 9mm compact P320 is also a very good pistol but after having researched the P320 for over 6 months and led on with the thought of having the same pistol in both 9mm and .45 caliber with two different grip sizes, I do not look very favorably on Sig Sauer for this overnight price increase before either the 9mm caliber X-change kit or the .45 caliber pistol have even become a reality. Sig Sauer hyped up the modularity and then pulled the rug out, insofar as I am concerned. I simply don't trust the companies that practice bait and switch tactics and want I nothing further to do with them.

You might not agree with that but that is how I feel.

I keep wanting one, and then realize I want a VP45 more........ I enjoy 9mm, but 45 just makes me grin a little wider.

I would almost give my left arm for a VP357 (.357 Sig) and a VP9c/sk! When they do bring it out in .45 ACP I'll undoubtedly buy one. Presumably we'll see this in the next two years or so.

you should try the PPQ if you can

personally, I just picked up the vp9(10 round mag states are last in line for new guns)-- The Walther feels better to me --a bit more accurate out of the box and the trigger is great(BUT very light) the differences between the VP( and PPQ are EXTREMELY small. More a personal observation when I shoot them.

-- the sig p320 is behind these 2 then glocks--(only for accuracy and feel when shooting). As far as function, I would trust my life with any of these--BUT glocks trigger for self defense(and its aftermath--especially the liability aspect) is a better defense trigger-- the other 3 are much lighter..to each their own--try the walther before you buy

I do not know why, but when I fire a Glock--the trigger/ firing pin spring action just feels cheap compared to the other 3. JMHO

you will be happy no matter what you get I promise

happy holidays happy shooting
