Went to the range today with the newly acquired Browning Hi-Power.

First off, this gun feels great in my hand. Not as wide as the G19 I'm used to shooting. Of course they are two different types of guns.

Shot 100 rounds of Winchester White box 115 Grain FMJ and 50 rounds of Winchester 115 Grain JHP.

Shot the first 75 rounds getting used to the gun. Had 4 FTE on the last round in the mag with the FMJ and 2 times with the JHP in the middle of the magazine.

The attached pic shows the last 25 rounds of JHP and 25 of FMJ. Impact seems a little high so I will shoot some 124 gr before I adjust the sights. I plan on using 124's for carry when I cure the FTE problems.

Overall the gun shoots well. I have no idea how much the gun was shot before I got it but I know it was born in 72.

I plan on doing a complete teardown and replacing every spring to include the magazine that came with the gun. I only have the one mag so I couldnt try another one. I plan on getting a couple extra mags as well.

Will take it out again after I overhaul the pistol and replace all the springs.

Wow. Nice shootin', tex. :D

Is that a nickel finish? That's really pretty!

I posted in another thread concerning this, but I'll post it again: If you're having FTEs, then you want to be sure to remove the extractor and clean the channel that it rides in. If you still have FTEs, then it's a good idea to replace the extractor spring. Again, this is assuming that it's an external extractor. :D

Have fun with that hot babe!

Hi, Thefumegator,

I think that gun is late enough to have an external extractor, so I wouldn't recommend removing it, only using a little cleaning spray under it.
