I have watched a few and find them both informative and entertaining ... but there is an aspect that bothers me.

Sometimes as he is walking around it is obvious from that sound that he is walking on a carpet of cartridge cases.

Perhaps stepping on cartridge cases is not unusual for you folks who frequent private/public ranges (I wouldn't know as I have been to such ranges ~5 times in my life), but the sound really upsets the Reloader in me ... and that is the Reloader Spirit that remembers the days in the late '60s when I was overjoyed to find a decent-condition discarded boxer-primed 7.92x57 case in the woods.

I just find the sound of those cases being crunched a bit ... disturbing, y'know?

Anyone else feel that way?

It sure makes me want to go and pilfer the ground at his house. :)

He is a reloader too (uses a Dillon 550 almost exclusively), but now he has a deal with Federal and doesn't have to pay for ammunition anymore so I guess he's not as picky as he used to be.

I like his "range" but his videos are to long.

He gets his ammo donated so blast away.:)

I love his videos. Every year around Halloween my daughters all want to pull up the pumpkin carving with a gun videos.

I love Hickok 45 and dream of having a home range someday. I love the sound of the mag Lula and saw how convenient it was so I bought one for myself.
Regarding the brass it's his backyard but if I was there I could clean up the 9mm and 38 spc for him.

Hickok 45 seems like a good old boy. I have watched
a lot of his videos. He doesn't throw the bull and is
honest even about his shooting, and he is a damn
good shot.

I agree he is a great shot and has a great set up I believe he is also a re-loader
I enjoy his videos lots of information I have no complaints hope he continues to
make them

Also got a dillon when he mentioned how they fixed his 20 y/o press for free . Was looking at progressives anyway
He did keep mentioning he had no relationship with them but just recounting customer experience.

He may not keep his range perfectly policed brass-wise but I'm sure he cleans it up from time to time. Or maybe he has friends and/or family that he lets scrounge. All I know is that the ground would be COMPLETELY covered in brass if he never cleaned it up, seeing how much he shoots. And his videos are probably only a small portion of the time he spends shooting.

Talked to Hickok45 and his son John at the Indy NRA show. Really down to earth people that come across very nice to everyone they greet. Looking forward to seeing him again in Louisville NRA show next spring.

He talks from time to time about the brass that he just leaves lying on the ground, as he doesn't reload certain cartridges. Now that he has a Federal endorsement, that's probably gotten worse. Yeah, it can be a bit disturbing to see and hear that to those of us who would like to have that brass, but it is what it is.

As for the length of his videos, I agree. They are getting kind of long. It wasn't always thus, though. That's a relatively recent development. Honestly, sometimes that is a deciding factor in whether or not I watch some of the videos in their entirety. I don't have unlimited internet at home, so a 30+ minute video will likely not get watched, at least not all the way through.

They are, however, always informative and educational. I credit him for stoking my newfound interest in lever rifles.

His reloading room is as messy as mine, but like me, I'll bet he knows exactly where everything is.

I also like his videos but I agree some of them are longer than I would like. I love to watch him shoot though. I also like his honesty.

When the recoil hurts, he says it does and he admits when he blows a shot.

That makes me admire him. When he's on a roll he sure makes the plates sing.

I enjoy his videos very much. Entertaining, educational and honest. We do have a home shooting range, but we need some dodads to shoot at like he has :). All I have is just a couple homemade target stands. I did buy a cheap AR 400 plate once and hung it on a dead tree, but the sons thought it would be a good idea to test the 30-06 on it. Not so good...... They owe me a new one, that one looks like swiss cheese :fire:

maybe he is just waiting for a volunteer (he lives in tennessee) to stop by and pick up all the brass!
