Went up to see some friends in Dallas...and in turn took off with them to see some more friends that have a decent plot of land in Hideaway...bout an 1.5 hours outside of Dallas...or so the clock in the truck said.
Got there and proceeded to start mixing the magical powder that some know as Tannerite...decided to do a few "multi-charge" care packages...one with 8 and one with 15.
We commenced ceremonies on or around 2 PM on Saturday and proceeded to shoot up a dry creek bed and several dead trees...two of which would recieve special attention at the end of the day. Some special things happened...two wonderful young men got introduced to more firearms than one could possibly imagine...from a 92FS to an M-4 to several diffrent bolt rifles to a very loud 12" 223 Contender....their smiles were and always will be priceless.
The smiles grew even larger at the end of the festivities...the 8 charge container went near a still somewhat sturdy cedar tree...and we all discovered that a 22 Hornet shooting factory Winchester grey box ammo can and will set off Tannerite...and it layed the tree down.
Then the 15 charge care package went onto another, larger tree...and it waylayed that tree down...needless to say, we have a touch more respect for Mister Tanners creation.
BUT....here is where the true fun comes in boys and girls...
We knew that Hideaway is a small, peaceful retirement community...however the people that hosted us asked us to come out to upset their rather snooty neighbors....we had that effect....
The home/ranch that we were on was visited by 5 patrol cars from 3 diffrent LE agencies...of course, two of our group, one of them being the son of the property owners, were LEO's themselves...we found out that no less than 150 911 calls were made on our behalf...150...we were proud of this...and we were scolded by not inviting the various LE agencies to come and attend the event...due to the fact that they would have LOVED to see some of the things that they were looking at on the camera playback...NO citations were written to us...no tickets...just a request that we inform the appropriate agencies we are going to go boom in the future...
This is probably the most fun I have had in many many ages...especially when we were told that the detonations were heard/felt over 6 miles away.
Life is good....
PS...I have been told that the report that the LE's file...I should have a copy soon... Put it in a frame....
