i have tons of old 9mm reload supplies and looking for a cheap fun way to burn it all up. my reloads would be 125(124 gr?) lead cast with 4 grs. of bullseye powder.

and will hi point ever make a 15 or 30 round mag for the thing??

My HP carbine has no problem with my reloads. I too would like to see an extended magazine but I haven't heard anything about them coming out with one.

Biggest mag I could find during my brief ownership was 14 round.

If you want a pistol caliber carbine that takes longer mags, one of the Kel-Tecs that takes Glock or S&W mags would be another option, albeit much more expensive.

im under the impression the sub 2000 gen 2 for glock 19 mags can't be found. thats what i was looking for at first.

My 995 eats about any ammo, factory or handload, I have ever fed it.

A double-stack magazine would be a good change.

I wouldn't expect it though -- seems they can sell every one they make of the current model.

Good reloads are every bit as reliable as factory ammo, how good you make them is on you.:)

It'll shoot them, but will they foul the barrel with lead?

Fast burning powder and a 16" barrel could spell lead fouling. If it was me, I'd make sure I had copper Chore Boys on hand, just in case. :)

I don't have experience with the carbines but a pistol I shoot eats all reloads, including those that are unsafe to shoot - wrinkled mouths, bullets seated crooked, ect.

One of the guys at work has a HP carbine he's brought out, and it ran fine with both factory and my reloads. I think the HP is a great little carbine for the money, I've not seen his choke yet on anything.

I shoot my reloads exclusively in my Colt AR6951 (9mm) without an issue. My standard load is a 147 grn "HiTek" coated bullet at about 1150 out of my Colt's 16" barrel.

I was like farmerboy once

long on opinion, short on experience. Then I bought a 995 that looked like it had been through hell and back, for $125. It shoots great and I have put a couple thousand rounds through it without cleaning. Just like a Timex. I Have bought a new 9mm, 40 and 45 since then. Same story although I sold the 45 because it really didn't do anything the other two wouldn't. The Kel-Tec is also a great gun. The Model that takes the short Glock Mags won't be out for quite a while but you could buy the G22 model and either shorten the grip yourself or buy a couple 22 mags. They are pretty cheap if you buy them used.

I had one of the 995 models, that is until my son borrowed it, about a year or so ago. I know I shot well over 1000 rounds thru it, all reloads, and my son has shot well over 1000 rounds thru it, the cheapest stuff he could find, and it still comes back for more. Uglier than all get up, but it is still fairly accurate.

I am a Hi Point Fanboy I guess. I like them because they work. They also tend to be cheaper than anything else on the market. They are what they are. Generally ugly, extremely heavy, low on capacity, and dependable. Most of the complaining is from people who had a friend of a friend of a cousin whose HP blew up and killed 18 relatives. Everyone I personally know who actually owns one really appreciates what it is. They ain't no carry gun and Dan Wesson isn't losing market share to them.

I had the 9mm and 45 carbine but wound up giving the 45 to a friend because I really didn't shoot it much and he liked it. Both shoot my reloads just fine. I have two (actually 3 but my brother has one) C-9s as well as a .45 and I don't think any of them have ever had an issue other than one 9mm mag that causes FTFs on a regular basis so I have it marked. I don't think I paid $90 for any of the pistols but I did pay retail for the carbines.

Edit. My 995 is one of two experimental guns that I have never cleaned.

I recently bought a used HP 9mm and it came with two long PRO MAG's.....but no idea how many they hold or if they function well as I haven't tried them yet. The one regular mag I tried with my reloads worked perfectly.

The manual specifically says to NOT USE the pro mags with the 995 HP or you will void the warranty. I have no idea why or how they would know that you used the mag but it is clearly stated when you buy a new one.

That in itself is reason enough for me to go try them! Unless they give a specific reason and it is safety related, I'll ignore it.

I do think I remember reading somewhere that the Pro Mags did not work well for some, but did for others.

The ProMags worked for me when I had my 995. With plain round nose reload FMJs anyway. They did choke on hollow point XTPs the one time I tried it. Other than that, ProMag or factory, it was completely reliable.
