Is it just me or has the amount of "traffic" on THR slowed down considerably since TFL reopened? Seems like threads that were posted **days** ago still seem to be on the front page when I check. I haven't become so anal as to plot the total # of threads over time when I visit.

The other explanation of course is that I am so addicted to THR and visit here so often that it just SEEMS like there's not as much new being added...:neener:

Yes. it appears slower, but there's plenty of reasons for that....vacations (a lot of us don't have laptops to take with us), many of the state's legislative sessions are over (which slows down the traffic in Legal & Political), it's not an active hunting season (ok, I'm not a hunter, but it seems like fall is when hunting seems to come into full swing for most states) and yes - TFL and other sites are probably pulling a few people in those directions.

Not to worry though. People always know where to find the best conversations, and the most polite users - THR

This is a cycle that I first noticed on TFL and then here last year. The traffic seems to slow down for graduation parties, fishing, hunting, camping/vacationing, yard work, etc. when it is nice out the outdoorsey types go outside. I have peeked back at TFL several times and there is nothing interesting happening there.

I think some of the furious flamers may have gone to TFL, and I'm glad of it - I think the amount of bandwidth given to real gun-related discussions has gone UP. I've found this board invaluable, aside from the idiots.

Isn't it slowing down a good thing? Actually, it still seems to be going pretty fast as far as I'm concerned. I find that if it goes to fast it is hard to keep up with what's going on.

You'd be hard pressed to find any board that hasn't slowed considerably at this time of year. It's seasonal and you get used to it after a while. Until a person figures it out though it really sucks if you're trying to run your own board and can't figure out what you did to make everybody LEAVE!!! WAHHH! :) Been there, done that.

Oh, and not all the furious flamers have left. Thank God because without them forums get boring quick. :D

compared to the Clinton Era,
there is a substantial reduction in the number of Anti gun news articles this year

With warmer and nicer weather more time is spent at the outdoor range with long guns. When the weather is cooler and raining more I spend more time at the indoor range.

As of right now, there are 355 users on THR and 168 on TFL. I'm sure TFL will grow as new members join up, but many of us who came here from TFL are members of both boards, and so there doesn't seem to be much competition between us. I browse there occasionally, but this is now my online "home", and I have no plans to "abandon ship". I think the same can be said for many of us who started THR as a "home from home" when TFL shut down - it's become a home for us.

It does seem a little slower, but hitting both forums doesn't seem to be up to my desired level of entertainment :D

I'm betting it's a combination of summer months' nicer weather, school getting out so fewer students (and for the young'uns, more time with the kids), vacations, and all that.

This idiot is still here :D.

As well on a couple of other boards, including TFL.

Just have to learn time management to be able to get them all in, and that's something that the AF beat into me.

Well, this is purely personal, but THR loads much faster through the "coffee stirrer" pipe that I have to use while underway. TFL takes twice as long, and AR15.com twice as long as TFL.

Have I ever mentioned before that I can't wait to get back home to my DSL? :D

If THR has slowed down, it still has more members logged on at any one time than TFL. I log onto one forum, then the other, just to see how many people are logged onto each. Without exception, THR has always had more people logged on than TFL. Sometimes only a few more, often 100-150 more. After my initial thought that it would be great having two forums, I now agree with those who predicted time constraints would affect browsing of both forums. Between THR and TFL I now spend 99% of my time on THR. Oleg has done an outstanding job after the shutdown of TFL. While TFL has its many supporters, it's human nature to view a "resignation" or a "retirement" as it were (Rich closing down TFL) as an indication of the enthusiasm level someone holds. It's hard to start up again and operate at the original level. I know Oleg has great respect for Rich and Marko, and I don't mean to put him in a hard spot. But I've realized my loyalty remains with Oleg and THR. I don't really care for the look of the new TFL. But I certainly wish Rich all the best.

There are currently 165 members and 114 guests on the boards. | Most users ever online was 706 on May 27th, 2004 at 02:27 PM.

Hmm, looks absolutely lethargic! :D

Haven't had much time for forums lately, weathers too nice. I'm personally sort of glad it has slowed down here, as I can now scan all subjects and not run out of time...
