Here in central Illinois, gun averse as it is, we are rejoicing. We finally got it all together and have begun the high school trap season. Probably the last state, but we have started. One practice and one match in the books. Numbers are down due to all sports running concurrently in the spring. One high school staffer as head coach, my elder son and I as head coaches.
we were due to start a year ago but the Rona put that off.
Seven student athletes three of whom have some experience, four with limited or none.
What a thrill when one of them starts seeing the light and starts busting birds. Granddaughter Sophia is improving after two years off.
We have five schools in our conference and each school shoots at its own sponsoring club, in our case, the one where I'm a director and my boy is secretary.
Wish us well.

Good
luck to all the athletes.!!

When I shoot 39 or less on a 50 Jackpot, I tell them I was sandbagging for Lewis money. Wish that were the truth.....:( 39/50-way to go, Sophia! :)

Last competition shoot for the season is this Tuesday. Five regulars will finish the season. Two others are ineligible due to grades. Scores have steadily improved. Last week we had a 46, a 40, a 36, a 34 and a 16 (up from a start of 8, and this kid is autistic. My son has worked with him tirelessly and is a fun student). I think next season will be a blast. No pun intended. This year we had low numbers of Participants due to all sports running together in the spring.

Season is in the books. Six shooters completed the final competition. A couple of mid 40s, a 36, 34, 30 and a 17. Only two had shot before but all day they are coming back and two are going on to the Peoria youth league in June

Well done, good to see the youngsters getting involved . Major success seeing them interested in coming back and going on to youth league .
Congrats to all involved.

Our home club was key to the success. Remote, a bunch of "experienced" shooters, all dad's or granddads and support from the members. The high school teacher as head coach was great. She sacrificed a turkey tag for one shoot (got one later) and was a good supporter. A club member, Curt Reynolds, deserves praise as the guy who got it all started.
