I am a newbie to the world of indoor bullseye pistol. I was at a show over the weekend and picked up a HighStandard Victor Target pistol. It came with a red-dot scope, an extra barrel with iron sights, a mag, and adjustable comp grips. The gentleman that owned it competed with it for years and had recently had it gone through by a smith who was connected to High Standard. Any advise or comments on these pistols? What should value on a used but pristine model be? The Gentleman's son said he won many matches with it but doesn't shoot competition himself. Thanks for any info...

Victors are excellent pistols, at least the Conneticut-made ones were. I have no experience with the new stuff.

The Victor was one of my favorites when I was younger...it just looked so cool.

The warnings for the model...and the whole line...are:
1. Don't feed it high vel ammo...it beats up the gun
2. The New High Standard (in TX) isn't the same as the Old High Standard
3. Magazine quality is critical...the HS doesn't have a feed ramp, it uses the mag lips. Google HS Mags and find out about how to tune them, which ones to look for and where to get the tuning tool

I saw a New High Standard Victor at the SHOT Show a couple of years ago and was less than impressed by the barrel to frame fit...at THE largest trade show in the industy

Cool..Mines like 15 yrs old well maintained and funtions like a dream. The gent that owned it passed a year or so ago. I bought it from his son who doesnt shoot and his dad was a legend at our club. $275 for all the above mentioned stuff. Did ok? hope old Bill isn't rolling in his grave, I'm proud to have it

I posted a week or so ago, 'bout picking up a Hamden, CT 5.5" slab-sided
barrel High Standard "Victor" model. Mine is in great shape, and dates back
to a'round 1973. It has ajustable target sights, flat aluminum (no vent rib)
rail, original magazine and thumb relief grips. Its stamped "Military" on the
right side (with no model number present). Serial number starts with "243".
Its without the add on muzzle end weight; and I gave $400 for it, and a
real leather Bianchi holster~! So, I'd say you did pretty damn good my
friend. :scrutiny: ;) :D

I have been searching for a second mag. Looks as if there are a couple slanted mag choices for the High Standard .22 pistols. Anyone know the proper number for the Victor model? Thanks
