Can someone please explain the HK date codes and why they are often listed in the ads I read. Are some more desirable then others? I see them for most ads regardless of the model so I'm sorry if my question may seem vauge.

did find this from HK but it's useless to me.
What is the conversion chart for date codes?
Below is the date coding chart. The letter will correspond with the number.
A - 0
B - 1
C - 2
D - 3
E - 4
F - 5
G - 6
H - 7
I - 8
K - 9

Thanks

mike

Pretty darn simple! especially with some of the P7 models, the earlier ones are a bit more desireable.

For some people it is a legal issue. For people in MA, for example, it must be '98 or earlier to be compliant. If not it must be sold privately, a dealer cannot sell it in state.

For others it's an aesthetics issue. Earlier guns do not have the large ugly warning about guns being dangerous.
