Based on all the good things said on THR, I think my next purchase will be the HK P2000SK 9mm.

I plan on using it as a CCW.

Any comments as to the different trigger pulls available -- LEM or DA/SA?

What is the trigger pull difference (in pounds) of the LEM vs. the DA on the
P2000sk?

 :scrutiny:

Thanks...

The LEM will provide you with a consistent trigger pull 1st to last vs. transitioning from DA to SA. I believe the sk's are coming w/ the 5 1/2# triggers, but I'm not positive, I'm sure I'll be corrected if I'm wrong and I believe the DA/SA is 7 1/2 & 4 1/2 respectively...but it really comes down to smooth, crisp & consistency in the triggers. I like the USP DA/SA trigger and if & when I get a P2000 it will be in the LEM
Really comes down to committing to one & practice, practice, practice ;)

I just got a USP compact - I debated the LEM vs the DA/SA model. I ended up getting the DA/SA model - I figure for range use, after 100 rounds, I would get tired of that long trigger pull on EVERY shot. As a strictly carry gun, I can see the benefit of this trigger. But, I already have a a carry gun, and I just got this gun because I've always wanted one.

I originally got my USPC45 in DA/SA. I shot it for a couple of years like that then I realized the transition from a heavy DA pull on the first shot to the light SA pull on following shots was unnerving. The DA was a very heavy pull and accuracy was not good. In a pressure situation, going from a heavy pull to a light pull could be dangerous.

I sent it in to swap the trigger out for the LEM trigger and I love it. It is a steady 4.5 LB pull from shot to shot. They can adjust it for 4.5 Lbs to 8.5 Lbs. I went with the 4.5 LB pull It's good enough for accuracy at close distances and I do decently with it at 25 yards, although this is a combat gun and not a target gun.

If you are using it for CCW, I would go with the LEM.

Good luck whichever way you go.

Well, for a P2000, I think I would get an LEM trigger. With the USP compact, like I got, I prefer the DA/SA, so I can keep it cocked and locked (the USp has the external safety).

HK LEM trigger

Just sold my HK Compact with LEM trigger. I liked the trigger a lot. Best of both worlds. Unfortunately, I thought this gun in 40 S&W was badly balanced. Too much weight up front with the composite frame. Tough as nails though, probably never malfunction (which is why, I suppose, some government agencies choose it).

Shipwreck, if I remember correctly on the USP Compact, when you put the safety on, the hammer decocks and gives you that heavy DA first trigger pull, doesn't it?

Or does it cock and lock like a 1911?

I have a 40S&W P2000 LEM.

For range work, the LEM is not my favorite. The pull is very long and the break comes very late. I just took a box of 250 UMC cartridges to the range and the *best* group I could get at 25 yards from a rest was 3 7/8 inches. The ammo is pretty cheap and the recoil from the 40S&W doesn't help with small groups, but that long trigger pull with the too late break probably added at least 1 1/2 inches to my group (my guess). On the same day, my .22 buckmark grouped 1 1/4 inch.

That said, for self defense at reasonable ranges (25 yards is a bit long...), the long trigger pull will prevent accidental discharges as you really have to want to pull that trigger to make the gun go off. I know, "keep you trigger finger out of the guard and you won't have an issue," but that finger sure likes to "check" to make sure the trigger is there, especially when you are under stress. So, for carry, the trigger is great and does add an extra layer of safety like it was designed to do.

Some folks can get very use to the longer pull and become quite accurate. It just takes work and time.

I don't like the decocker on the P2000 series. However, when the HK45 comes out with the 1911 style safety/decocker, I will not get the LEM as the DA/SA should help me get tighter groups which I prefer even on my carry guns.

Massad Ayoob, an author and trainer who I respect, seems to prefer the DAO design as it adds safety and keeps liability down. I prefer a lighter pull because I am not inclined to spend the extra money on the ammunition I would need to get use to the longer, harder pull. Everyone has their opinion.

No, I know other guns sometimes decock when U use the safety. The USP does not.

The hammer does not decock w/ the safety on - you push the safety down like a 1911 to "fire." And, then you push it down further if you want to decock.

So, it can stay cocked and locked like a 1911. In fact, that's how I keep my USPs. That's why I bought them. Otherwise, yes, I wouldn't want a safety on it.

Use the Reset!

I never really understand when they say trigger pull is long. How do you people do it?
Please show pics how you pull trigger before releasing the hammer and after.
