I hit the range today with a couple of new toys. A CZ 452 Varmint .22lr rifle (review will be in the rifle section) and a HK P2000SK pistol.

Here is the HKP2000SK review:

I field stripped it Thursday night. I deep cleaned it and relubed it properly.

I picked up 4 spare mags from Cal's Sporting Armory.

I brought 200 rounds of Speer Gold Dots. I figure the best way to wring out this potential carry piece was to shoot what I will use as a defensive load.

I was questioning why I spent $300 more for this polymer subcompact than two earlier Glock G33s that I owned. It is hard to explain but this HK exudes quality. Not only in the beefy, flawless slide, but the polymer frame seems to be manufactuer to a higher level.

On to the shooting. The HK's DA trigger pull was WAY too heavy. It was every bit of 12 lbs. I thought it would never break. The SA trigger pull was very, very nice. The reset was nice and short...which I loved.

The subcompact grip with the flat floor plates had my pinkie hanging off the bottom. The grip felt fine....just mentioning this. I really wanted a very concealable weapon so this was acceptable. This pistol has some serious hop to it. I am far from recoil sensitive (this is my 5th handgun chambered in .357 Sig) but I don't remember my G33s jumping like this. I did shoot Federal American Eagle thru my G33s about 95% of the time. I'm not sure if I ever put 200 rounds of full power Gold Dots thru them. It wasn't uncontrollable but I had to make a conscious effort to bear down.

The SK gobbled down all 200 rounds without a burp. It piled all the rounds in a 4 foot area on the concrete. It was flawless.

The bad news was I was dissapointed in the accuracy. I was shooting rifles for a couple hours prior and may have been fatigued. Not making excuses but my eyesight has really changed in the last 6 months and it is time for a new glass RX. I was shooting at 2" targets at 10 yards and was struggling. I consider myself a fairly decent shot. I normally would be able to dump the whole mag into the 2" target without much effort. I was holding all the shoots in a 3" area but this was very subpar for me. Once I get my new RX in the next month I will give the HK another go for accuracy. My guess is that it was me.

I'd give the gun a "B+" but think I would have given it an "A" if it wasn't for my tired eyes.

Cool review. This might be the next pistol that I get. The .357 Sig cartridge is intriguing to me, the numbers are definitely there. But I'm debating whether I should go K or SK.

I find the SK is a bit too small for my grip.

I'd give the gun a "B+" but think I would have given it an "A" if it wasn't for my tired eyes.

I can see the headline: "Shooter shot self; Blames gun".

I think a 3" group at 10 yards is pretty decent for a brand new gun your not used to. My groups with my G23 have shrank a lot after a few months of shooting to it. I bet you that in a couple months, that HK will be as accurate as you can shoot it.
