Looking at picking up a PTR 91 but like the look of the HK 91 wide fore grip but don't know if they are available for a the shorter 16" barrel or just the 18"?

Ideally I would like to get the 16" barrel version but I like the wide forearm look and the 18" version is $200 cheaper so I might get the longer one if I can't get the shorter one set up the way I would like.

The PTR91k should use the HK-93/33 length forearms.

The standard HK light bipod will fit the HK-93/33 wide forearm.

Here's my 18" PTR 91 with a wide forearm. Given the 18" barrel, it looks like a 16" could easily be made from it by merely cutting back the barrel, versus moving the front sight, shortening the cocking tube, etc.

However, when I look at the PTR website, it appears they have done just that...the forearm looks significantly shorter. http://ptr91.com/products_ptr.html#products

As Destructo6 says, probably would have to use the HK93 forearms.

iamkris, looks like your PTR is wearing a HK-93/33 forearm. A G3/HK-91 forearm would come back as far as the front of the magazine well.

Check out the G3 section at HKPRO for some good pics.

Good info...that would explain a lot about the cutout on the underside...that's where the magwell would fit.

I bought this from Numrich Arms and it was marked as HK91...will have to contact them and let them know they are selling the wrong thing.

To the original contributor, yes, the 93 wide forend will fit the PTR91K.

I have the 18" version, and am quite happy with it.

I've posted this photo before, but it is one of my favorites. That was probably the best day at the range I've ever had. Anyways, you can see some of the mods I've done to mine, and it is my favorite rifle these days.

All's well that ends well...

I called Numrich...they confirmed that the HK93 forearm is 11" long and the 91 is 14" long. They sent me the wrong forearm and will pay the shipping to swap it out.

Thanks for the heads up guys...it confirms my suspicion that "something wasn't quite right".
