My collection thus far:

Mosin Nagant 91/30 Soviet '43
Stevens .22 autloader rifle
Yugo 59/66 SKS
Remington 870 with 28 inch barrel
Smith&Wesson 9mm Sigma

This isnt a post where you say," Well watcha need it for?" This is just your opinion about what rifle/pistol/shotgun you think I need next.

Have fun with it;)

AR and/or AK before 2009.

Good point. I was gonna say a Garand, to help round out your milsurp collection. At least that's what *I* did when I got to your point (Nagant & SKS). :D

Do you live somewhere where CCW is possible? You might want to get another so called "high-cap" pistol and LOTS of spare mags before 2009 too...

Though not in as much danger, you might want to look into something small and concealable too, if CCW is possible. *cough* Kel-Tec P3AT...

I read somewhere that every American ought to own at least one SAA (or clone) and 1911, kinda hard to argue there (though I don't own either yet)...

About the only narrowing down I can do (discounting the election) is, you need more handguns. I started out liking handguns lots more than rifles or shotguns. Now, I'm more of a rifle guy. But never mind that -

IF you feel worried about the election results: "EBR" of your choice, or autoloader with 10+ capacity magazines!

If you aren't concerned (or are, but don't want to let that influence your buying - and I've actually started a topic on this, feeling more pressured by politics than what *I* want) - then, SOME kind of handgun/revolver.

IMO, YMMV, etc.

Depending on how things go with the Congressional and Presidential elections, it's a VERY good possibility! :(

plasma rifle in the 40 megawatt range? an uzi? something silenced and/or cheap to plink?

The most beautiful/functional combination of wood and steel embodied in the M1a. mmmmmmmmmmm......

Ammo. Lots of ammo. Seriously.

Oh, and maybe a .22 handgun, a slug barrel for the 870, and a decent air rifle for low cost plinking and pest control?

M-1 Garand & ammo from the CMP.

The offer will be gone soon forever--regardless of the threat of silly laws.

You won't shed a bitter tear if they ban 'this and that', cause sooner or later they'll ban that M-1, too.

So don't let it get to that politically--and get that M-1 while your government (albeit indirectly these days) has a few to sell---starting at < 500 bucks. And Greek ammo made with obvious love...

The M-1 Garand is the rifle you need NOW; and the weapon and ammo are priced lower than market value by a HUGE margin--because the CMP is selling them as a non-profit in service to the citizens of the United States to promote rifle marksmanship--as is its Congressional mandate by charter.

i say that you get either a black rifle ie an ar or ak, or you get a real nice handgun like a sa 1911, mc operator, or trp maybe?

Ammo sounds good.

But for guns, an AR or a bolt gun(other than a mosin). Mosins are great, but sometimes you need something more refined.

If you think the D party won't win, then you need a turnbolt of some kind - either a magnum rimfire like a .17 hummer, or a centerfire.

If you think the D party at the federal level will control both houses of Congress and the POTUS in November, then you've got your work cut out for you: AKs, ARs, XCR, FS2000, AUG, 556, on and on and on. Personally, I'm going to add an AK "pistol" and a Robinson XCR in 6.5 grendel.

P.S. For better or worse, the D party is going to pummel, trample, school, Pwn, arserape, etc., the R party at all levels in Nov, so go with the 2nd thing I said. :)

I carry one of these, yes I have tried and tried to cary one of my other weapons, but they are all heavier, this sucker feels almost as light as my seacamp, "which I never felt good about carrying", it always remided me of a piece of jewelry. My Kel-tek PF-9, is heavy with an 7+1 round clip, it sits like a rock in my pocket, the glocks in fl with 13 + rounds, yea that's easy to coceal in 95 degree weather. Tried them all and keep going back to that little 5 shot plus P. After 35 years of trying to get wepon that is as close to stealth as possible, I can't find anything with more bang and less weight for the buck. No rails no frills just 5 rounds of 38 plus p. If I can't stop at least 2 with that I shouldn't be carrying a gun. Another misconception when discussing high cap weapons, is the time factor. not the amount of rounds. This stuff happens in a timframe of a few seconds. It isn't as if several armed perps, are going to stand toe to toe with you exchanging rounds. If between you and your attacker or attackers you are exchanging that much firepower, that you release a dozen rounds, and have time to reload and continue shooting at each other, someone needs a guide dog.

I'd say you need a better pistola than the Sigma. 1911, CZ75, BHP . . . or even a versatile .357 wheel gun like a GP100 or 686.

I'll agree with AR and/or AK, for the ban possibility (I personally think its highly unlikely though), but mostly because every American needs at least 1 of each, they are cheap to feed as far as centerfire rifles go, and both are just tons of fun.

if you get an AR or AK, make sure you get some mags, high cap mags might become something of the past....
and ammo too,
hmm what else.................

A single shot shotgun.
A 28 ga shotgun.

I am on a roll this week and it is only Tuesday.
So far I have 5 folks in the "Blame Steve" Club.

One fellow bought he and his gf a 28 ga single shot (2)
One fellow bought his wife a used 870 pump 28 ga (3)
A teenage lady and her grandpa each now have a single shot 20 ga. (5)

Look, Oleg never did send me my Decoder ring ( I want the green one) so I am going for a record this week on single shots and 28 ga.

Your assistance would be appreciated. *smile*

Steve
