I have a Speedfeed I, but don't really like the way it feels on my 20" 870 Police. I'm thinking about ordering a Hogue stock, but I'm not sure to order the standard 14" LOP or the shortened 12" LOP version.

I'm 5'11, 230 lbs, with huge shoulders. My wood 870 Police stock is very comfortable to me, and I've never used a shortened LOP stock before. My shotgun is my only real "go to" longarm, so I'd like to keep it comfortable for shooting out to 100 yards.

Please advise, thanks in advance.

You and I are of a similar size. I tried the 12" Hogue for one shot and hated it. I love the standard model however. It's just under 14" and is an excellent stock.

I really like my Hogue stock. It fits me better in the palm as I have slightly large hands but not huge. I initially bought the short version but didn't like it. It did not seem to balance well for me and it put my thumb right up against my cheek. So I traded for the stand LOP and have been happy ever since. At 6'2" 220 I'm less stout than you so maybe your shoulder size would keep your thumb out in front of your cheek...dunno.

That's exactly what I was afraid of, and what I can see happening.

Thanks for the fast replies guys, I'm going to order the full length.

Someday I'll get an 18" barreled shotgun and put a tiny tacticool stock on it for maneuvering in hallways, until then I'll practice throwing the stock over my shoulder while negotiating corners.

The 12" Hogue IS a little short, 13" or a smidgen under or over depending on your size is about perfect. I think Hogue is missing it not offering 13". Of course the 12" Hogue with an extra small size Kick ease slipped over is real nice as it gives a slightly larger pad size, elastomeric recoil reducing gel and a smooth leather cover that doesn't hang up on clothes during the mount besides 7/8" longer.

I have a 12" on mine. It's more maneuverable and quicker to shoulder but there are times it's a little short. I may try a different recoil pad. Don't wrap your thumb around it or you may smack yourself in the nose on the first shot ;)

Ive had mine for almost 2 years and i love mine its a little to long in the winter with carhart and flannels on but its a good stock to have in the rain!
