I got sidetracked and didn't post an October Handgun Match. Instead, since the holidays are coming up, I thought I'd post a Holiday Match, which will run to January 2nd, 2010.

You may notice a few things different than previous matches; I'm hoping these changes will make the match simpler and more fun:

1. Rather than shoot for a score, shooters shoot for group size.

2. Shooters can use any target they like, but taking a cue from the Compact Handgun Match, you must write on the target:
- "Holiday '09 Handgun Match"
- date shot
- your THR handle
- group size (c-c)
- gun & ammo used

3. 5 shots, 15 yards, unsupported.

4. Irons or optics.

5. Centerfires and rimfires scored separately. Depending on the level of participation, revolvers and semi-autos may be separated as well.

6. Shooters may submit multiple times within the same category. If someone beats your group, then, you're welcomed to get back to the range to beat their group. 'Course, they're allowed to then beat your group, too. You can, of course, enter in as many categories as you like.

I'm having some back surgery next week, so it's likely I myself won't get to the range again until early to mid November. In the meantime, I'll be checking in and wishing y'all good shootin'.

Good shooting, Tequila.

I'm recovering well from back surgery, so I made it to the range earlier than expected. Shot my K-38 and my 617 .22LR.

6" K-38, shot single action, Winchester 148 gr WC .38 spl

How do you get an image down to the correct file size to upload here?

I'm not going to be much help, but do you mean physical dimension of the picture or size of the file? To tell the truth, I haven't had to mess with either when posting. I use photobucket and simply upload as is from my camera, then copy in the image link when I want to post.

I can reduce file sizes on a Mac before uploading, but I haven't figured how to do that on a PC. Anyone?

I rented a Kimber 1911 today. Had to buy the range ammo to feed it, and I'm not even sure what it was, since the RO just handed it to me without the box. To my uneducated eye, it looked like 230gr jacketed RN. It didn't cut nice holes in the paper, but I'll call it 1"

Still plenty of time to get a target submitted before the end of the holidays! Step up folks! Between these 2 links on this very subforum, there are over 200 opinions on accurate handguns. Time to step up and send something other than electrons downrange! :D

Winchester - FWIW - this pic is 2.5Mb on my computer. I simply uploaded it with the default settings on photobucket.
