Did anyone say George Segal, "The Bridge at Remagen"?

I stopped reading the thread at around post #20.

An old movie about Mike Hammer, starring the author, Mickey Spillane in the title role in The Girl Hunters (1963). Mike Hammer is old-school, so he always has a 1911.

Odd and cool little movie... Bought the DVD last year. :)

Bit of trivia... Except for some exterior establishing scenes of New York, the rest of the film was shot in England. The film was largely populated by British actors, using variations of American dialects with varying success. :)

Aside from Spillane and the iconic .45 government model, the film is graced by Shirley Eaton (the woman painted gold in "Goldfinger") -- one of the most beautiful women ever to walk the earth.

It’s a good that ankle holster has an extra support strap. That Detonics Combat Master weighs a bit over 2 pounds loaded.

I know I wouldn’t want to carry it that way. But then, it’s a cool factor that helped make Miami Vice the cutting edge show of its time.

He manually decocked it while you weren't looking ... ;)
That scene probably ended up on the cutting room floor.

Kidding aside, there have been movies where shots of swapping magazines or switching to an identical backup were filmed but were cut by the film editor to speed up the action. Which is why a lot of folks felt respected as an audience in the final gun fight of "Way of the Gun" because it realistically showed magazine changes in a gunfight.
